Tristan POV

We transport into the brownie realm, appear in some special, heavily guarded room and quickly make our exit. Our group, which includes Elijah, myself, and six others, are on high alert. I really don't remember their names, just their scents, which I think is currently more important actually so I don't accidently hurt them. Names can come later, if we survive.

I know that the others don't want me here or trust me. That's ok. I don't blame them. I mean, why would they, right? But, I know they trust Elijah.

We urgently head out of the portal room, through what looks like an office, down multiple hallways, ultimately making our way to a lobby type  room.

It's here the stench of blood really hits us!!

The lobby is a disaster!

Shattered glass!

Furniture overturned!

Paperwork scattered!

Blood splattered!

Still bodies littering the room and beyond!

You can tell there was one hell of a fight here!!

But, there appears to be no one alive insight right now and all the sounds of fighting we hear seem to be coming from outside.

Elijah, who is the leader of our little band of fighters, assesses the situation and gives us instructions. We carefully move across the lobby in order to exit the building via a side access door.

Elijah pauses at the door, sniffs the air, and carefully opens the door. We quickly go through the door and hide behind some bushes close to the building for cover.

The outside of the building looks similar to the inside, chaotic.

Broken glass!

Trees uprooted!

Dead bodies!

BLOOD!!

It looks like the battle at the front of the building had been fierce!

Whoever stood their ground here put up one hell of a fight and drove the enemy further down the road. We can hear screams, yells, snarls, growls, wood splintering, voices shouting commands.

We feel the ground vibrate, like when boulders smash and tumble down a hill.

We sprint down the road, turn the corner, and freeze, taking in the sight before us!

Brownies! Wolves! Rogues! Witches!

I can see Alpha Maureen, Wyatt, Beta Jax all fighting with such determination in their wolf forms. Then, I see Blaine!!!

I can tell by his scent even though he's in his wolf form. This is the first time I'm ever seeing his wolf. He's dark brown with a black stripe on his head.

I'd laugh if we weren't in our current situation.

The black stripe reminds me of a mohawk from those 80s movies I've watched late at night while moving from motel to motel.

Blaine has blood smeared over most of his fur. He has a deep gash sliced into his right shoulder as well as a nasty cut along the right side of his neck.

Damn, he's giving all he's got but I can tell his moves are getting slower and a bit sloppy. Who knows how long he's been fighting! Right now, he's up against three wolves!! He's holding his own, actually  gaining ground although he's tired but I don't know how much longer he can hold on in his current physical state!

I barely register Elijah methodically giving orders because I'm only observing Blaine's fight.

One light brown wolf lunges at Blaine's back right leg while another wolf aims at his neck. He quickly kicks the light brown wolf hard in the face, sending him flying into a nearby tree while swiftly jumping at the other wolf and latching onto his neck.

It is now that I begin to sprint toward Blaine.

I faintly hear Elijah scold me but I don't care! All I care about is getting to Blaine before he's overpowered, possibly killed.

While Blaine countered the second wolf, who focused on Blaine's neck in his attack (big mistake scumbag), the third wolf began to make his move to join the fight again! He's stalking toward Blaine's back!

Hell NO!!

As a rogue, I've been in plenty of fights. Some I've barely survived! I never had help so if I can help Blaine, my actual family, I will!!

I push myself to get there as fast as possible. I see the sneaky black and white wolf waiting, observing the fight and waiting for an opening to pounce on Blaine.

Almost there!

With  other fights going on around us hiding my rapid approach,  thankfully the black and white wolf doesn't seem to notice me yet.

I see the sly wolf crouch, about to spring!

Damn, am I going to make it in time?!

Shit!

Damn!

Fuck!

I see that damn wolf jump!

SMASH!!!

I slam into that piece of shit, devious wolf and we go skidding across the ground. I spring off the ground, ignoring the pain I feel on side, and bite down hard on the wolf's neck. I don't relent until I hear multiple cracks! When the wolf's body goes limp I finally release my hold and search to check on Blaine. He is standing over two dead wolves, staring at me.

I meet his eyes, nod my head, and jet back to locate Elijah.  There's no way I'm going to give him a reason to mistrust me by not returning to our group.

The group is still hidden and silently watching me as I return. I shift back to my human form, not caring that I'm as naked as a jay bird, and wait for an ass chewing from Elijah and maybe some of the others. But, it doesn't come, from any of them!

He is stern faced and unhappy but he walks up to me and clasp my shoulder, instead of punching me.

"I appreciate you helping your brother, our pack member. From now on, you need to follow my instructions or so help me you will face consequences, understood?" he matter-of-factly informs me with a hint of a threat thrown in.

"Yes, Elijah. Understood. Also, understand this. I will face any consequence you dish out after I help my brother. Every. Single. Time. I just found him. He stood up for me. I will never turn my back if he needs me Elijah" I acknowledge and inform him.

He studies me for a moment. I guess he sees my truthfulness and sincerity and it ok with it because he grunts with a small twitch of his lip. He then gives us our orders and we're off!!
