23 - We Cant Handle It

It's only been a matter of days since Brad last came to work with me yet he's decided to come back again. He says it's because he wants to see more of what I do at work and help me out but I think it's just because he enjoyed it, even though he's too afraid to admit it.

"So what classes do you have today?" Brad asked as Molly and I began to warm up before the first class and he was attempting to copy what we were doing.

"Well it's mostly contemporary classes but then one basic ballet with the 4 and 5 year olds this morning"

"I have no idea what any of those words mean but I'm guessing I'll find out"

"Just do what you did the other and you'll be fine" I said to Brad reassuring him.

"Hey do you mind if I warm up with you guys?" Zoe asked walking into the studio.

"Not at all" I replied.

"Thanks" she smiled as she came over and joined in with our warm up, "Brad what are you doing here?"

"Just helping out, plus I was bored at home"

"Why can't you admit that you actually enjoy it?" I asked him.

"Because enjoy is a bit of an exaggeration" he replied.

"Yeah right, you loved it the other day" Molly added.

"Okay okay so maybe I do enjoy it, is there anything wrong with that?"

"Not at all" I laughed.

"Maybe I should get Tristan to come help me out" Zoe smiled.

"This is something Tris would definitely enjoy" I replied.

"Speaking of Tris I can't remember the last time I saw him outside of work" Brad said as he gave up on the stretching and just sat on the floor.

"Me and him have just been spending a lot of time together to make sure we know each other well and don't end up feeling like we've thrown ourselves into this relationship" Zoe explained.

"Well can't that include spending time with the rest of us?" Brad asked.

"Of course it can"

"Where were you last Saturday then?"

"I already told Katie that me and him went to see my parents"

"And next Saturday?"

"We are going to see his parents"

"Jesus Christ it's like you've stolen my beat friend!"

"What do you mean by that?" Zoe asked Brad.

"I never see him, he is never around when we are all together"

"You all work together though"

"Yes but that's work, it's not the same as just hanging out without having to worry about working"

"I'm sure we will find some time"

"Maybe you should, and also think about what Tristan might want to do because we are all part of his life and his family too"

"Fine" Zoe sighed, "I have to go get ready for a class" she added before getting her things and leaving the studio.

"Someone got a bit defensive" I said to Brad.

"I didn't mean to be harsh it's just that things have changed since she's been with Tris"

"It's not just you who's noticed" I said reassuring him.

"It's like she's the one controlling the relationship so whatever she says goes and Tristan just goes along with it"

"But he would never just agree to something, he obviously doesn't see that she's controlling him"

"If Tristan really likes her then I guess we have too assume that things are fine and it's nothing to do with her"

"I'm sure things will go back to normal soon"

"I hope so"

I don't know what it is but something about their relationship isn't right, I mean it's like Tristan doesn't have a say in anything they do yet he's okay with that. I might be completely wrong in assuming that Zoe is the reason we don't see Tristan anymore because she's controlling him and I really hope I am because if I'm right then someone's going to get hurt and the odds are, it will be Tris.

Once Molly and I had warmed up and Brad had attempted too we ran through some dances and activities we would be doing throughout the day as we had a little extra time before first class.

"Brad can you go grab the aux cable from the office?" I asked him and he agreed before quickly running out the studio.

Just after Brad had left I heard a little girls voice call my name and I turned round to see a 4 year old running towards me.

"Did you miss me Katie?" Amy beamed as I picked her up off the ground and she wrapped her arms around me.

"Of course I did" I smiled back.

"Hey Lucy" I smiled to Amy's mum.

"Katie would if be okay if Amy stayed here for a couple hours longer as her dad is out of the country and I can't get anyone to cover my longer shift?" Lucy asked me.

"Yeah that's fine, she's no problem at all" I replied.

"Thank you so much, I really appreciate you helping me out all the time"

"I'm more than happy too" I smiled as I put Amy back onto the ground.

"Is this the right cable?" Brad asked walking back into the studio.

"Brad!" Amy shouted as soon as she saw him.

"Hey you" Brad smiled as he lifted Amy up and spun her around.

Brad and I often look after Amy as her dad is out of the county a lot with his job so it's difficult for her mum, Lucy to look after her or find someone to look after her. Because she comes to the studio twice a week she knows me quite well so i offered to look after Amy if Lucy ever needed any help. It turns out she will spend pretty much the whole day at the studio if she has a class and sometimes we will look after her during the evening which is why she also knows Brad. We don't mind because she is the sweetest little girl and really is no trouble at all.

"You two would make great parents" Lucy smiled at me and Brad.

"Yeah I don't think so" Brad replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"I'll see you guys later" Lucy said as she walked towards the studio door, "thanks again for looking after Amy" she added before walking out.

"Why do you think we wouldn't be good parents?" I asked Brad.

"I just don't think we would be able to handle it with our jobs and our lifestyle"

"Well we could make necessary changes to make sure things work out like my finding another employee or something"

"Now your talking as if we are actually going to have kids"

"Aren't we going to have kids at some point?"

"Let's talk about this another time" Brad said walking over to where Amy was showing Molly her ballet routine.
