Katie P.O.V

This weekend its mine and Brad's 1 year wedding anniversary and its crazy to think that we've already been married for that long but at the same time a lot has happened in that short year. Some people say that the 1st year is the worst or it's the best and I can defiantly say that for me and Brad it's been the worse, even though there have been a few good moments. Lets just hope that from here on out things will start looking up, especially considering that soon it's not just going to be the 2 of us.

"You ready to go?" Brad asked walking into our room.

"Yep" I replied pulling the zip round on my small suitcase.

"Let me take that" Brad smiled talking the suitcase off me and I thanked him. We then made our way downstairs and out the apartment, down to where our car was parked.

We are heading to Brad's parents house for the weekend because in the 6 years we've been together we've spent the majority of our time in London and barely ever go see them so as I'm almost 6 months pregnant and not up to doing much we thought it would just be nicer to spend some time with Brad's family and in the place he grew up.

4 hours later and we'd finally arrived in Birmingham. It should of only taken 2 and a half hours but traffic was not on our side so it ended up taking a lot longer, much to mine and Brad's annoyance.

"Are you sure you don't mind spending our wedding anniversary at my parents?" Brad asked as we pulled up outside his family home.

"No of course not" I replied, "I've actually been looking forward to it, and it'll be nice to see your family again"

"I'm sure they won't mind if me and you want to spend tomorrow on our own, maybe go out for the day or something?"

"Yeah that would be nice" I smiled.

"Katie" Brad's mum Anne beamed as soon as she opened the door, "it's so lovely to see you"

"It's good to see you too" I replied as she pulled me into a hug.

"Thanks for the help with the bags" Brad sighed as he walked into the house behind us.

"Oh Brad stop complaining, you can manage a few bags" Anne laughed as she pulled her son into a hug.

After catching up with Brad's family me and him headed up to his old room which apart from a clear out of some of his stuff, looked exactly the same as the first time I came here. We unpacked a few of our things but left the rest in our suitcase as we were only here for 2 nights so it seemed a little pointless to completely unpack. As it was around 5 already we decided not to go out so instead we led on Brad's bed and put a film on whilst we waited for dinner to be ready.

"Wow this is delicious" I said as I took the first mouthful of Anne's chicken casserole.

"Thank you" Anne replied, "do you want me to give you the recipe so you can make it at home, I know it's one of Brad's favourites?" She asked and Brad nodded as he shovelled more food into his already full mouth.

"Yes please, a don't know a huge amount of recipes so we basically live off pasta" I laughed.

"Well there's nothing wrong with pasta" she laughed in replied.

After we had finished dinner we then all sat around the table and talked for who knows how long but it was nice to catch up with Brad's parents and his sister because we don't get to see them very often. Plus over the past 6 years even though they aren't always physically there, I know that if I needed anything I could ring them up and they would try their best to help. When I met Brad I didn't just get him, I also got his family, something I hadn't had in a long time and I feel so lucky to be able to call them my family now too.
