"Mum, dad, we're here!", I announced as I opened the door to let Camila walk inside the house.
"We're in the kitchen", my mum shouted and we walked over there.
"Hi", Camila said when we joined my parents and they both stopped what they were doing to say hi to us.
"I'm so happy you are here. How are you guys?", my mum asked.
"We're fine", I replied with a smile. "Getting ready for London".
I was maybe more excited about this trip than Camila but I couldn't wait to see her working on this huge project and absolutely killing it.
"How's that going?", my dad joined the conversation while he poured us both a glass of wine.
"It's ready", Camila said. "We just have to get there. My parents will arrive a day earlier and wait for us".
"That's so exciting", my mum cheered. "Congrats again on the movie".
"Aw, thank you so much. I'm actually kinda nervous but I'm trying to stay calm", she giggled.
"You'll do great", I told her and kissed her head.
In the corner of my eyes I could see my dad smiling at my gesture and I avoided completely looking at him because he would make fun of me or embarrass me in front of Camila. I knew my dad.
"I get that", my mum nodded. "It's a huge project, but I'm sure you'll do amazing".
"I can't wait", Camila smiled.
"What are your plans, Shawn?", my dad asked a few minutes later. Camila was now helping my mom with the salad and I followed my dad to check on the grill.
"I'll spend some weeks with Camila and then I'll come back to start recording in New York", I explained my plan and looked around the backyard. The weather was cold and harsh.
"Any new ideas on the album?"
"I'm just... I hope I get some inspiration when I get in the studio because it's a bit hard to tell now. I don't know...", I said honestly.
"You have time", my dad shrugged, very relaxed.
He was a very pratical, clever guy that took one day a time and I admired that of him so damn much. I wished I had some of it.
"Yeah, I guess...", I sighed and helped him.
"How are you guys doing?", my sister said behind us and I immediately turned around to hug her. She was at her boyfriend's house when we arrived.
"You're barely home", I scolded her but she laughed.
"Look who's talking", she said back.
"I have stuff to do".
"So do I", she replied.
"Leave her alone, she's not a kid".
"Thank you, Camila", Aaliyah said when my girlfriend came to back her up and then gave me a look.
"You are a baby", I insisted just to bug her.
"Ugh, you're so annoying", my sister groaned and went back inside with my mom.
"She's right", Camila pointed out with a smile.
"I agree", my dad added.
"Oh c'mon", I protested. "You all love me".
