Make you feel my love - Adele
Camila's POV
Summer, 2014I was tired but so happy. I could feel my muscles aching but I wasn't backing off from this. I could do it again and again if they asked for it, I just wanted it to be perfect.
"Ok, girls, we're good", Jeff, the sound guy shouted from his station in the middle of the arena showing his thumb up when we finished soundchecking.
It was lunch time and we were ushered to the big tent settle outside the arena for all the crew. I took my food and then sit with the girls and looked around for the rest. Shawn and Austin weren't here yet and I didn't know what they were doing or where they were. I didn't imagine them hanging together though, they were too different.
"I think we could do it one more time", Lauren said in between bites of her food.
"What do you mean?", Ally asked. "Rehearse again?"
"Yeah", she said. "It was kinda messy at the end".
"I don't think we have time for that", Dinah replied.
"I'm just saying... We can do better", Lauren insisted.
"What are you ladies talking about?", Austin said placing his food next to me and grabbing a chair to sit.
"Lauren wants to rehearse again", Normani told him.
"Why?", he asked chewing.
"Because we were off key on the last chorus and Camila missed some steps on the choreo", Lauren explained.
I frowned at her accusation because I didn't recall missing any steps on that choreo, I knew the moves very well. I wasn't the best dancer of the group, but I worked my ass of to do my best always. She was confused... or lying, and I didn't like that.
"Did you, Cams?", Austin asked me with a mocking smile.
"I..."
"I don't think she did", Shawn said from the other side of the table. I didn't see him when he arrived. "I was watching from another side of the arena and the dancing was good".
I smiled at him for defending me and he smiled back.
"Well, Shawn had his eyes on you and he says you didn't mess up. One less problem, darling", Austin said with a weird smirk.
"Still", Lauren interrupted again. "We could just try some harmonies before the show".
"We can do that", I said because some more practice was always good..
We all finished our food while chatting about other stuff and then went back to the tour buses to chill before the concert. Austin had an interview for the local radio station before his meet and greet so he went alone another way. The girls went back to the tour bus but I stood behind because I wanted to thank Shawn.
"Was the dancing really ok?", I asked Shawn when we were out in the parking lot.
"Yeah... You didn't mess up anything. I don't know what she was talking about. You were awesome". The last word came out barely in a whispered, like if he had surprised himself saying it but it was too late to hold it.
"Thank you", I said and he nodded smiling at me.
Shawn was probably the sweetest guy I knew. I realized that when I saw the way he talked to her mom and played with his sister when they were around. He would dump anything to just hang with his family when they came to visit while on the road. He had introduced me to them, because I was too curious not to know them. He told his mom and sister how he was teaching me guitar while I was struggling to teach him Spanish. "Good luck with that, darling. His Spanish teacher was sick of him because he only sang in her class", his mom had told me and Shawn went red. I still teased him for that.
