Dream - Shawn Mendes
Shawn's POV
February 2020I put the guitar down and stood up to grab a bottle of water from my fridge. The convo felt empty when my girlfriend or my friends weren't around, but they all had their stuff to do. I had hit the gym this morning and then came back with a clearer mind. Not clear enough to write music though, I couldn't find the way to put into lyrics and melodies how I was feeling and that was driving me crazy. I went out the balcony and stared at the Roger Center in the distance. I had had one of the biggest and greatest shows of my career there and I was afraid I could not achieve that or something similar in the future.
My phone started ringing in my pocket and I had the gut feeling it was Camila, even before looking at the screen. She had a way to reach out to me when I needed her the most.
"Hey baby", I said and she smiled big.
"Hi, how are you?", she asked. She was cheerful and that made my chest feel warm.
"Just hanging out here in the cold", I said showing her where I was.
"Are you alone?"
"Yeah. I just got back from the gym. How are you?"
"I'm great. I had some nice scenes today", she told me.
"Really? What about?"
"You know this Cinderella isn't taken anything for granted", she snapped her fingers while she hummed her phrase.
"Wow", I chuckled at her bubbly personality and she laughed with me. "That's awesome, baby. Where are you now?"
"I'm at my trailer. I'll just get my stuff and get back to the house".
"No more plans for the day?"
"All I want to do is get in the bath with a glass of wine", she moaned and I smiled again.
"That sounds nice", I agreed.
"Hmmm", she eyed mischievously. I loved how dorky she was.
"It would be a lot better if I was there, though", I tilted my head.
"I can bring you with me", she winked.
"Yes, please", I begged.
"Ok, maybe I will", she replied. "What are you going to do later?"
"I don't know. I have a phone call with Andrew and I guess I'll just practice for Josiah's wedding".
"Oh right. That's this week", she spoke surprised.
"Yup, I'll be heading there in a few days", I said taking a seat outside.
"I hate that I'll have to miss it", she pouted.
"I hate it too, but we'll see each other soon enough".
"I really miss you", she whispered slowly and let go of what she was doing.
"I miss you too", I replied and we stared at each other silently.
I truly enjoyed the comfortable silence between us. The comfort of just being there without having to say anything. She smiled and her eyes squinted. I hadn't seen a cuter face than hers. I was completely head over heels for this girl.
"You're so cute", I whispered.
"No, you're so cute", she disagreed with a funny tone.
"Hey, I dreamed about you last night", I told her when the memory suddenly hit my mind.
