Magic - Coldplay

Shawn's POV
September-October, 2015

This was probably the coolest thing I had done in a studio so far. We were each on a different booth, in the dark, singing back and forth lines that hit our head and matching our responses. I felt a frenzy going over my body, an energy I hadn't experienced before. Her voice pushed me to go further, to try one more line, to say one more thing. It was a high singing with her and I didn't want to go down.

I know, I know, I know, I know
Can't seem to let you go, can't seem to keep you close
(Hold me close)
Can't seem to let you go, can't seem to keep you close
(You know I didn't mean it, though)

I saw her close her eyes every time she sang, letting herself go and feeling every word escaping her mouth.

Tell me where you've been lately
(Just hold me close)
Tell me where you've been lately
(Don't, don't, don't, don't let me go)
Can't seem to keep you close,
can't seem to let you go
(I didn't mean it, though)
I know you didn't mean it, though
(I don't wanna let you go)

No, I was never going to let her go. For real. Her mere existence was bringing exciting moments to my life, this being a clear example of that.

Tell me you didn't mean it, though (no, no, no)
(Can't seem to let you go, seem to let you go)
I know you didn't mean it, though. I wanna know you mean it though
(Hold me close)
I know you didn't mean it though
I can't seem to let you go, can't seem to hold you close

"Alright, guys, that sounded good", Noel, the producer that was still with us at studio, said.

We stared at each other with a smile on both our faces and put down the headphones down before going out of the booth.

"Oh my God", she breathed when we met outside.

"That was amazing", I said matching her excitement.

"I think we have it all", Noel told us. "You did a great job, guys. Just leave it to us now".

"Is it done?", Camila asked with a mixed of surprise, satisfaction and disappointment.

"We have more than enough vocals to work with", Noel smiled to her and then turned around to work on his laptop.

Camila looked back at me and we both knew it was over. This part was of the process was over and it had been great, but it was a bittersweet feeling knowing that it had ended.

"I'll text my mom", she said while we gathered our stuff around the room, getting ready to leave.

"Guys, I'll have to go, my family is waiting. Please, just shut the door on your way out", the producer said and hugged us both before walking out and leaving us alone.

Andrew had sent a car for me already but I told him I'd wait with Camila for her mom to arrive before leaving myself. We sat on the sofa, my adrenaline was still running high in my system.

"I'm kinda sad this is over", she said with a chuckle, voicing both our feelings.

"I know, me too", I agreed.

"Thank you so much for doing this, Shawn".

"C'mon Mila, you have nothing to thank me for. This song is as much yours as it is mine".

"I can't wait to put it out for the world to listen".

She was so cute being all excited about it, and I absolutely loved how she was so pumped about this song. It made me feel special. We both had released a bunch on music already, but this one was different.
