Better half of me - Tom Walker

Shawn's POV
Summer, 2014.

"Shawn, what are you doing?", Camila asked from the other side of the hall, screaming actually.

"Uh... I was just going to my room", I said carrying my guitar.

"No, come with us", she said jumping and moving her hands around. Wow, how much energy did this girl have?

"Where exactly?", I asked her.

"We're getting together at Austin's room to watch a horror movie, it'll be fun", she said.

"Well..."

"C'mon. You practice a lot already and you can do that tomorrow".

"Alright, alright. I'll see you there".

"I'll be waiting, Shawny", she said as she bounced away.

That girl was really something else. She was funny and goofy all the time and she seemed like she was having the time of her life every second. I wished I could feel and act that way. I was so awkward. One would think that being around many people and playing in front of a crowd would help reduce the nervousness of social situations, but it wasn't the case for me. I still felt very out of place with people I didn't know.

What the hell, I thought. One more awkward interaction won't change my life. I left the guitar on my hotel room and changed my t-shirt for a clean one and headed to Austin's room.

He was a nice guy, or so people said, but in the time we had been touring together we hadn't talked much. I didn't know what it was, but something about him didn't click for me.

I knocked on the door and Ally opened it.

"Shawn! Come in", she said smiling.

All the girls were there plus the guys from The Vamps. I quickly asked myself how many times they had done this kind of things and I wasn't invited. Anyways, not that I really cared.

The room had been reorganized and all the armchairs and sofas were put in front of the TV. Since this was Austin's tour, it made sense that he got the best and bigger room.

I sat on a corner and one blanket was thrown at me. Everybody had blankets on them.

I looked around and didn't see Camila. Neither I saw Austin. That didn't sit right with me. I knew I had nothing to do with both their lives but for some odd reason I didn't like that they spent so much time together and alone.

"Where's the rest?", I asked casually.

"They're getting popcorn", Normani said checking her phone.

I nodded in silent and took my phone from my pocket and checked it as well. Brian had sent a picture. He was with the rest of our friends at someone's house just hanging and being idiots. I missed them, a lot.

"Shawn you're here!", Camila shouted when she entered the room with a two bowls of popcorn on her hands.

"Yeah...", I said shyly.

"Let's do this!", Austin said passing around the bowls of popcorn he was carrying and picking the remote to press play.

Lauren got up and turned off the lights, but before she did it, I saw Camila sitting right next to Austin and fixing the blanket over their legs while he put his arm around her shoulders. I shifted uncomfortable on my seat and turned my sight to the screen in front of me. Suddenly I didn't want to be here anymore. It wasn't fun.

The movie started and I tried to pay attention to the teenage boy going through paranormal situations that no one but his creepy neighbor believed, but my eyes kept moving towards Camila's direction. She was really into the movie and she would scream and gasp loudly at the scenes. Austin laughed at her reactions and held her closer every time she got scared. I kinda wished that was me.
