Shawn's POV
July 2019

"Slow down or you'll get drunk before she even gets here", Connor laughed at me.

"Dude, you're so nervous", Brian mocked me as well.

"Fuck off", I murmured taking another sip from my glass.

I was going out of my mind. I was about to see Camila after weeks apart and after we had told each other we had indeed feelings for each other. It was obviously a nerve wrecking situation, I wasn't just exaggerating. I felt an electricity going over my body, my hands were a bit sweaty and my hair was a mess.

Brian had been playing around with Connor's camera documenting the previous moments of what he had called "Shawn's big night". Both my friends' expectations weren't helping to ease my nerves.

"It's gonna be fine", Brian reminded me when the bell rang and I nearly fainted, but Sylvie was the one that walked through the door and not Camila.

"What? You are not happy to see me?", she asked me.

"Of course I am..." I said hugging her.

"He's waiting for Camila", Connor explained.

"Oh right! Good luck tonight champ", she said patting my back.

"Guys don't be so weird about it", I complained to everyone. "She and I have known each other for a long time... I'm ok".

"Right...", Brian stretched out the word in his mouth with a smirk, sarcastically.

"Don't mind us or any other person", Sylvie tried to calm me down. "We'll all be rooting and cheering for you, but don't mind us".

I sighed because I knew it was inevitable. I had been too much of an open book to try to hide how I felt at this moment, specially now that we had shared our feelings. Trying to keep my friends away from this was a lost battle.

More closed friends arrived to the party and in best Camila's fashion, she came in a few minutes late, just when the alcohol had taken down some of my inhibitions. She texted me when she arrived and I jogged to open the door for her.

"Wow", I said when I saw her in a black jumpsuit and high heels.

"Hi", she smiled at me.

"Hi", I replied when I was able to wake up from the daydreaming. She was the dream by the way.

We stared at each other for a while, too nervous to make the first move. When I finally went for the hug, she did the same and we tilted out heads in the same direction. I felt our noses brushing one another but we pulled back immediately and laughed awkwardly. Had the alcohol already evaporated from my veins? Were was the courage I had built for this moment?

"I uh...", I murmured.

"Let's try again", she said and we hugged properly this time.

She smelled amazingly and her body felt warm against mine. I held her close with my arms wrapping her tiny waist and her hands laid on my shoulders.

"I'm so glad you're here", I whispered in her ear.

"Me too", she said.

"Shawn, come here, man!", someone from the backyard called me and I let go of the hug.

"Ready?", I said offering her my hand. She looked at it and the milliseconds that it took her to answer to my gesture felt like ages.

"Ready", she nodded with a smile on her face, intertwining her fingers with mine.
