Shawn's POV
March 2020

"You ok?", my mum eyed from her sit on the plane.

I looked up at her and smiled a bit confused by her question.

"Yeah", I assured her. "I'm great".

"You look like it", she said back and smiled with me.

I felt weird for a second, like she was analyzing me and I got shy about it. She laughed, I guessed I blushed and she noticed.

"What?", I giggled nervously.

"I'm happy for you", she told me and I didn't know how to reply but kept smiling at her.
"I've always been so proud of you and what you've done with you career. You... You have achieved so much these past years and it has been beautiful".

"Thank you, mum", I murmured feeling touched.

"I've seen you do all that before, and now I see you fly an ocean every few weeks for a girl, and I never thought I was going to be proud about something like that, but... I am. I see the man that you are and the sacrificies you are willing to make for live and it makes me so happy", she told me and grabbed my hand.

"Well...", I managed to say and I had to look down to clear my throat before saying anything.

"This is good and you are exactly the kind of guy I dreamed you'd become", she nodded slowly after she interrupted me. I could see she was holding back her tears.

"Mum", I called her and brushed my thumb against the back of her hand. "Thank you... Honestly, I wouldn't be the guy I am today if it wasn't for you and dad. You made like this... It's because of you".

She held my hand against her lips and kissed it.

"I love you, honey", she murmured.

I always had an honest and opened relationship with my mom. She was my rock from day one and I always called her when I needed something, even when it was just to hear her voice. I wouldn't be here if she and dad weren't rooting for me from the first moment. I knew I owed them everything.

"I love you, too", I replied.

"I'm sure Camila will love the birthday party", she told me confidently and let go of my hand to rest her back on her seat. We still had some hours up in the air ahead of us.

"I hope so", I sighed with excitement.

"She will", she winked.

We were both flying together to the UK but my mum was heading elsewhere to visit our family there. As much as she and I wanted to celebrate with Camila on her day, my mum had just a few days in the country so she wouldn't be able to join us for the party.

When it was time to part ways after we landed and claimed our luggage, my mum held me tight and I did the same.

"Tell Camila happy birthday, and that I'm sorry I can't go to her... and that I miss her and..."

"Ok, mum", I chuckled. "I tell her eveything".

"Call me when you get there so I can say hi on the phone at least", she ordered me.

"Got it. I will do that", I assured her to make her feel better.

"Have fun, baby", she hugged me one more time and then kissed my cheek.

"Say hi to everyone there", I told her.

...

"So, what does the birthday girl want to do?", I asked Camila when I went to pick her up on set.
