ERICA SWAN HAD never felt more beautiful than in those few minutes that she was dancing with Jaclyn in the empty foundations of their new house. Jaclyn twirled Erica around in her arms like the blonde was the only thing that mattered and would ever matter. In her sweats and old, faded Sunnydale jumper, she knew that she didn't look the most beautiful creature in all the realms, but none of that seemed to matter to Jaclyn, who continued to look at her like she was worth more than an entire world full of silver and gold.

It was addicting, and Erica had never felt safer than she did when she was in Jaclyn's arms. Jaclyn's arms were where Erica had first found what it truly meant to find home. To be warm and safe and loved in a way that was unconditional and not tied to how somebody was meant to behave or act, and she could truly be herself without any pretence.

One of Jaclyn's hands was wound securely around the small of Erica's back, and she smoothly stepped with them in a box step and over and over again. Erica slipped her arms around Jaclyn's shoulders and leaned in so that their breaths mingled and their bodies were flushed against each other.

Jaclyn's breath ghosted Erica's ear, and her breathing hitched as her heartbeat quickened and Erica started to turn to mush in her girlfriend's hold. A shiver raced down her spine as Jaclyn pressed a feather-light kiss to her neck and then Erica's jaw, without thinking all that much. Erica tilted her head to give Jaclyn more room.

She could feel Jaclyn's lips turn into a smirk against her skin and wanted more. Her hands wound their way into Jaclyn's hair, holding her in place, and Jaclyn was more than happy to reward her with another series of kisses pressed against her skin as Jaclyn whispered, "You are beautiful, sweetheart. I am so lucky to have you, but I wouldn't judge you if you didn't want to move in with me, at least not right now, with everything going on with your family. I wouldn't want to put you in a position where you have to choose between your family and me."

"What if I choose you?" Erica breathed out, and she could feel the exact moment Jaclyn froze in her arms as the weight of what Erica had said fully sank in her brain. Jaclyn wasn't used to having someone choose her; she was used to people betraying her and stabbing her in the back, both by friends and foes.

"W-What?"

Erica pulled away from Jaclyn, just enough to put her hands over Jaclyn's instead and squeezed her fingers lightly, causing Jaclyn to look back up at Erica as the blonde spoke, "I'm serious, Jay, I choose you. Look, I will always love my family, and that little girl inside of me has finally gotten everything she ever wanted. A family. But the second the topic of my future Dark One ness is brought into question, they freeze up, change the subject or pretend like it's not a possibility when it could very well be. When have you known a prophecy to be wrong?"

A determined steel flashed in Jaclyn's eyes as her brow set into a frown. Her words were as cutting as glass, but still, they were a comfort to Erica, who was worried that walking away from her family in the way she did would not allow her to recover any of the relationships Erica had formed.
