Action Scenes...

I suck at writing action scenes.

Wherever there's a fight going on, or a mission or anything that can be categorized as action, I fall into a slump. And the fact that DC is mostly action as all the Bat vigilantes are up against countless villains the entire time, makes it even difficult. Because then at some point I will have to write out an action scene but I'm never satisfied with the end product.

So far the best action scene I might have written (best out of all so that doesn't mean that scene was really something amazing, it's just better as compared to the rest) is the lethal fight between Red Robin and Irina Luthor in Savior | T. Drake. It was probably the first and last time that I wrote the entire fight scene and did not despise the outcome so much.

A lot of action happened in Lilith | J. Kent with the entire Phantom arc but I literally just put it off my shoulders by writing it out and never looking back at it. I don't know if it's good or bad, I didn't have the strength to judge it.

But while writing Phantom | H. Bartinelli, it's taking a toll because the entire book is full of action, tragedy and more action.

Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't have started the fourth book in The Hellfire Series but now that I have come as far as the 11th chapter, I'm not going to abandon it.

Some writers I know at Wattpad are so good at writing action scenes that it's almost like you're watching the entire fight/attack happen in front of you. It's so realistic and so well written that I am in awe of how they do it (and by those special writers, I mean PricetagOfficial and GuyOfMany, you should totally check their books out if you haven't already, trust me you won't be disappointed).

I like creating a buildup towards the action scene but when it comes to the actual scene, all the enthusiasm and excitement evaporates.

What are your tricks to writing action scenes, and more importantly where do you get inspiration for them?

I am not into action movies either so I don't know which movies to watch to get inspired, DC is probably the only action related fandom I am into and even my reason for sticking to DC was due to its variety of characters and storylines.

So if you have any movie or book recommendations, let me know and I will really appreciate the help because right now, Phantom | H. Bartinelli is in need of a lot of action scenes and I don't want to ruin it.
