I don't know if this thing happens with me only or you guys have experienced it, but most of my stories are unplanned and the story develops as I write.
It happens like these premonitions/visions whatever you call it such that when I start a story I only have a basic outline for the first three or four chapters with no idea what the main plot is going to be.
But as I write along things get developed, new characters surface and so do new events which shape the story into something completely different from my initial planning.
This has happened in The Hellfire Series and in Sugar Rush | T. Drake specifically.
When I started writing Demon Spawn | D. Wayne (the first book of the series), nothing was decided and in the earlier chapters it seemed to me as if I was forcefully writing the story. I had no plot whatsoever but I loved Ashley and Damian's dynamic so I didn't stop myself from writing.
Everything changed by the 35th chapter when Dom and Lizzie came into the picture. I'll be honest, introducing the Haydens in the story was purely on a whim. But I had no idea they would later become so important for the story that the entire plot of the series would be based around them.
The whole story became more focused on the Haydens even though initially they were secondary to the plot but all that flipped while I started Fallen Angel | J. Todd and had a conversation with PricetagOfficial which made me think about bringing Emmeline Hayden into the midst of the story as well.
Lilith | J. Kent served as the climax book to the entire series and everything wrapped up in it so nicely such that even I was surprised how different the entire plot had become from my initial outline.
Right now, I am working on Phantom | H. Bartinelli, the last book of the series and though it is very long, everything is tying up and I wish I had more time to update it because I have so many plans for this final book.
Similarly in Sugar Rush | T. Drake, I had zero idea of what was going to happen in the story and all I knew was that I wanted to write about Tim and Dora again so I created this sequel. It has taken a very interesting turn by now and I can't wait to post all the chapters I have thought out as a result of these premonitions/visions regarding this story.
Bringing Dora's mother into the story was unintentional and introducing George and Lucas Wilson too was at first no more than just secondary characters. Let me tell you, when I chose Wilson as the surname for George and Luke, I had temporarily forgotten that DC had a character bearing the same surname (Slade, who else?)
That realization at first worried me because I thought I might have to change the surname for my characters but then when I thought about it further, it opened up an array of possibilities for me and the story took turn after turn, getting shaped all by itself.
As a result, I researched more on Deathstroke and Rose Wilson, adding characters and events to the story on a whim (as usual) but seeing it all tie up so well together now, I can't explain how delighted I am.
I won't say more because I don't want to give any spoilers to those who are reading it currently, though all I can say is best of luck lovely readers, because you will be needing it for all that's bound to come in the upcoming chapters.
Have a lovely day.
