Your Pov:

You had no words. You were alone with the God of Mischief, no big deal, right? WRONG! You were terrified to say the least, until you looked into those emerald green eyes. Before, you were staring anywhere but his eyes. His eyes expressed a mix of confusion with a little bit of hurt, you had started to feel bed. So, you cleared your throat, "Um, sorry, I'll just show you where they are, it will be easier than explaining it." You said as you started walking to the far left wall. It was awkward to say the least.

"Ah, here they are" you said as you pointed to Shakespeare's works. They were kept on the top shelf because no one really read them unless someone needed them for homework. "Thank you for the help Lady..?" "(Y/N), but you don't need to be so formal, you can just call me (N/N)" He had chuckled lightly at you after that. God, his laugh was as warm as honey, it was beautiful. "Alright, (N/N). Do you have any other book recommendations, I'll finish this within the next hour?" How was this the same man who took over New York? He was actually nice and the one who took over New York was far from nice. "Um yeah, I love all of John Green, or J.K. Rowling's works, especially Harry Potter. Or there's this really amazing series by James Dashner, its called the Maze Runner. There's also another author, Suzanne Collins who wrote...." you stopped as soon as you realized you were rambling. You were red with embarrassment. (If you don't like any of these books, feel free to put your favorites in there) Loki just chuckled at you. "Sorry, I just am really passionate about books and no one here really reads." He just smiled at you. "There is no need to apologize, I find it interesting that you share a love books, as do I. My idiotic brother hardly reads so it is rather nice to hear someone be passionate about literature." You just simply smiled at him. "Where can I find who was it again, J.K. Rowling?" "Right this way"

The conversations were a lot less awkward after that. You both had found the books you were looking for and you both settled on the couches in the library. The library had three couches in it facing toward a fireplace that you always turned on. The couches were leather and had corner pillows on them. As you were settling on one couch, you had started to cold, so you took a blanket out of the chest in the middle of the couches, it acted as a coffee table. You had thought Loki would be closer to the fireplace since it was always cold in the library, but he was the farthest away from it, which you found odd. "Can I ask you a question?" Loki shrugged. "You just did." he had said not looking up from his book. You just heavily sighed in response. "What do you wish to know?"

"Why do you sit so far away from the fireplace, it's always freezing in here?" He had hesitated at your question. "I am surprised you do not already know." he had took in a big sigh and placed his book down. "Let's just say people from my heritage do not get cold." You had pondered at his words. You were confused, Thor was like a portable heater. You just shrugged it off even though you knew he was hiding something. You had both gone back to your reading in comfortable silence. You both had spent hours reading, and before you knew it, you were dosing off. You didn't even know when you fell asleep or the fact that you were even tired. Loki stayed with you as you slept, He had noticed that you started to shake, he did not think anything of it, until you started to talk.

"No, No, NO. Please stop" you had muttered in your sleep. Loki knew he needed to wake you as soon as you said stop. He got up immediately and placed his book down on the couch next to him. He started to shake your shoulders, "(Y/N), (Y/N), please wake up." he had stated. You weren't waking up and he didn't know what to do, so he did the only thing he could think of. It was an invasion of your mind but he did not care, all he knew was he had to get you out of this nightmare. He went into your nightmare.

Your nightmare:

You had woken up on the cement floor of your cell at Hydra. You looked down at your body and started to cry, it hadn't looked this bad in awhile. You were basically only skin and bone. They almost never fed you here and this was where your eating disorder had came from. You started to cry as you looked at yourself through the tears. You were covered in bruises, some old and some new, cuts from their torture covered what you could see of your body. The only clothing you had on was a hospital gown that was torn to almost shreds and covered in blood.

You had assumed it was nighttime because you were only in your cell at night. You tried to get some sleep because you knew that tomorrow was going to be worse than today. It had felt like you just shut your eyes and then suddenly you were being dragged from your cell. You were being brought to a different room this time. Instead of them always turning left to go to the room you got tortured in, you went right. You were terrified because you didn't know what was going to happen to you. They dragged you down the hall while your knees scraped along the floor, which had drains every so often and was made of cement. It hurt like hell. You guys had finally made it into a different room, what you saw when you got in there made you want to vomit, but you had nothing in your stomach so you couldn't. The room had control panels to the right and left of the door. In the middle of the room was a chair that reclined backwards and had some sort of contraption overtop of it that kind of looked like it had two crab claws at the top attached to one pad on each claw.

The guards had thrown your severely underweight body onto the chair and strapped you in. "Subject 0518, how are you doing this morning?" you said nothing to him, you just spit in his face. He slapped you for that. He walked away from you and towards the control panel to the left of the door. one of the guards had strapped you to the chair after you had struggled, but it barely did anything and he put a mouth guard in your mouth. Suddenly everything had felt different. You looked around and had seen Loki, he was looking at his surroundings. You were shocked. Was he working with Hydra? As soon as his eyes landed on you he had lunged at you. "(Y/N) you need to wake up, this is just a nightmare. You are not actually here." You just stared at him. "Wake up, Wake up, WAKE UP!" He had said as he was shaking you. Suddenly you were in the library of the compound with Loki kneeling on the ground next to you.

You just stared at him for a second and started crying. You pulled your knees up to your chest and wrapped your arms around them. Loki had gotten up immediately and wrapped his arms around your shaking body. You had your head on his right shoulder in the crook of his neck. He had his right arm around your shoulders, brushing through your hair and his left arm was rubbing up and down your back. "It is alright now, you are safe. You are home." he said. You don't know how long you two stayed like that.

When your eyes finally stopped crying you looked up at him with a grateful, but small smile. "Thank you" you said in a small voice. "There is no need to thank me. Do wish to go back to your chambers or to stay here?" you just shuddered at the thought of going back to your cold room alone. "I think I'll stay here, thank you again" you said, expecting him to leave. He stayed. "You don't think I'm leaving you here, alone, do you?" he said as he started to get back settled onto his couch. "Do you need anything?" You wanted him to hold you, but you would never ask for that so you shook your head no. He knew what you were thinking and he got up off his couch and stood in front of your couch. "Well, are you going to get up? I'm not going to stand here all night." he stated, holding his book. You just stared at him, shocked. You sat up quickly and he sat where your head was and patted his lap. You laid your head on his lap and he started to read to you. One hand was holding the book up while the other one was running through your hair.

He stopped reading for a second and looked at you. "When I had my nightmares, back on Asgard, I would want nothing more than for someone to hold me after I had one." he said while looking at you. "I do not want you to feel as lonely as I did, little one." he said. He smiled at you and got back to reading the book. You pondered over his words but fell asleep quickly. You fell into a dreamless sleep, which you have not done probably ever.
