You've (probably) heard of/seen abusive/violent Leorio but what about Kurapika?
TW: Abuse

Leorio never liked wearing makeup. He thought it was too feminine for him. He tried it once. That was the first time and he thought it would be the last too. But it wasn't. Because now he was looking at himself in the mirror, applying foundation. He hated the way it felt. Why was it so...liquidy? And it just soaked in? Weird.

Putting on the foundation made him feel uncomfortable. Yet, he had to. Killua and Gon were coming over. He had to hide the bruise. It was just one but you can't just put foundation in one place. His sister taught him that. It would throw everything off.

Leorio knew Kurapika loved him. He was told that all the time. "You know I love you, right," is what he would say. "I just get angry sometimes. You do things that...piss me off." He would kiss Leorio and tell him it was okay. And Leorio thought it was okay. Why would someone who didn't love him, kiss him?

"Leorio," Kurapika yelled, making his boyfriend flinch. "Hurry up! You're pissing me off!" Leorio gulped. "I-I'm sorry," he said. "I-I'll be right out!" He quickly finished applying the foundation before running out.

Kurapika smiled at Leorio when he entered the room. "Hey, baby," he said. "Did you cover up that bruise, as I asked you to?" Leorio nodded and Kurapika walked up to him. "That's good," he said. He put his arm around Leorio's neck and pulled him in for a kiss.

Kurapika closed his eyes as he kissed Leorio. Leorio kept his eyes open. It didn't feel right this time. Why didn't it feel right? It usually did. This made Leorio feel...violated. He pulled away, making Kurapika frown. Leorio smiled. "Shall we prepare lunch," he asked. Kurapika hummed, "Sure. Get what we need."

Leorio sat on the couch with the kids. They were watching a movie while Kurapika finished up lunch in the kitchen. Each time there was a sudden noise Leorio would jump. He was a little scared. Sure, he knew that Kurapika would never hurt him in front of the kids but he still felt unsafe. After all, he could always take him into a different room.

"Hey, old man," Killua said. "Are you alright? You seem tense." Leorio looked at the kid. "I'm fine," he said. "It's just...Kurapika has been scaring me a bit." Gon frowned. "How," he asked. Leorio wasn't sure how to answer. He had dragged himself into this. He had to respond. "His anger issues have been a little erratic lately," he said. "I wouldn't worry about it."

Gon tilted his head. "What do you mean by erratic," he asked. His voice was full of concern. "What has he been doing?" Leorio glanced at him with a blank expression. "I don't want to be with him anymore," he said. "I want to leave."

That's when Kurapika walked into the room. He set down a plate of sliders. "Lunch," he said cheerfully. Killua and Gon exchanged glances. Gon took Leorio's hand. There was silence and Kurapika's face fell. "Well," he said. "Anybody want one?" Gon smiled, "I'll take one! They look delicious!"

The mood lightened at Gon's exclamation. Kurapika went to grab drinks from the kitchen. He tossed Leorio an icy gaze as he went. Leorio squeezed Gon's hand at this. Gon pretended not to notice but he did.

Soon enough Killua and Gon left. As soon as they did, Leorio wished they didn't. He didn't want to be alone with Kurapika. Not even for a second.

"Leorio," Kurapika called from the kitchen. "May you come here a second?" Leorio gulped and timidly walked to the room in which he was called. It was their bedroom and Kurapika stood in front of the bed. Leorio stopped in the doorway. "Y-yes?"

Kurapika looked at him, his eyes were scarlet as he gestured for Leorio to come closer. "Come on," he said as his boyfriend stopped again. "I want you right here." He pointed to the floor in front of him. Leorio walked forward. As soon as reached Kurapika, he was slapped.

Leorio took a deep breath. Kurapika may be small or seem harmless but he wasn't. His punches and slaps hurt. They hurt a lot. And they bruised Leorio a lot.

"Did you tell them," Kurapika yelled. "Did you tell Gon and Killua that I've been hitting you?" Leorio shook his head. "No, I di-" "You make me really angry sometimes! Furious! And this isn't making it better!" "I didn't tell them!"

Leorio immediately regretted raising his voice. But if Kurapika didn't want anyone to know he was hitting Leorio, why did he do it?

Leorio lowered his voice, "I didn't tell them." Kurapika sighed, "Good. I don't mean anything by hitting you. You just get on my nerves. But you know I love you, right?" Leorio was tired of this. "No," he said. "You don't love me." "Of course I love you!" "You don't hurt people that you love. Not like this."

Kurapika frowned. "Leorio," he said. "It's not my fault. I never learned how to love. My parents died when I was young! I never lear-" "Thirteen. You were thirteen. I think that's old enough. Hell, my parents didn't love each other at all. But I know better." "I do love you. But sometimes I get so angry at you!"

Leorio paused. Maybe Kurapika was right. Leorio knew that he messed things up a lot. He could never keep anything right. He did just anger Kurapika. It wasn't Kurapika's fault, it was his.

"I'm sorry," Leorio said. Kurapika's expression broke his heart. But when he smiled, Leorio felt sick.

"It's okay baby," Kurapika said. "We'll work on you listening and not angering me." Leorio nodded but felt a chill when Kurapika's hands cupped his face. "I know how we can make this better right now," Kurapika said. "Come on. Get in bed."

"I-I don't want to," Leorio said. "I'm not in the mood for that." Kurapika frowned again. "You will be soon," he said. "Just get in bed, don't worry." Leorio gulped. He didn't like this. He shouldn't had apologized. He should've gotten away. But now he was trapped. Trapped with no way out.
