Leorio Birthday "Special"!!!
Idea from @tar0bubbletea

Leorio woke up early that morning. He opened his phone, already have received texts from his family. Feliz cumpleaños, they all read. All happy birthday texts. The only person he didn't get a text from was Kurapika. Looking beside him, he knew why. His husband was in bed next to him, his face pressed against the pillow. He softly snored, making Leorio chuckle.

Leorio climbed out of bed and went to get ready in the bathroom. Shower, hair, clothing, meds. Everything he needed before starting his day. Then he walked back into the bedroom, kissed Kurapika's head, and left.

Leorio arrived at work around 8 am. He stopped by the cafeteria to get a bagel and then to the office.

When he walked into the office, Quinton immediately blew a party horn in his ear. He jumped and Quinton laughed. "You're going to give me a heart attack," Leorio said. Quinton smiled. "Happy birthday," he exclaimed. "D and Riley went to get cupcakes for us!" Leorio took off his coat and hung it on the hook. "Really," he asked. "I'm grateful."

Quinton jumped into his seat. "So am I," he said. "I love cupcakes! Except for chocolate. It's acceptable but I would rather have vanilla. You know what I mean?" "Mhm," Leorio responded, checking his phone. Still no text from Kurapika. He should be up by now.

Quinton leaned over the table. "Why the long face," he asked. "You should be happy! You're a year closer to dying!" He laughed before pulling a serious face. "That was a joke. Please don't be happy about dying."

Leorio looked up at him and smiled. "I'd like to stay alive," he said. "I'm sure my husband would too." "Why," Quinton asked. Leorio shook his head. "Personal. Anyway, thank you for the birthday wishes." "No problemo! My birthday is November twenty-second. I expect the same treatment." "You're a real eccentric person aren't you?" "I guess so. Oh! Cupcakes are here!"

He jumped up and walked to the door. He opened it for his friends. They walked in, Riley holding a small platter of cupcakes. There was only four, the perfect amount for them.

D walked up to Leorio and wrapped his arm around him. "Happy birthday man," he said. Leorio awkwardly smiled. "Yeah, thanks," he said. D smiled. "We got Trish to let you off early." "Ah. Thanks." "Of course, it's your birthday!" He walked around the table and sat, "I hope it wasn't a mistake leaving you with Quinton."

Leorio couldn't help but laugh at this. "Hey," Quinton yelled. "I was just fine! Wasn't I, Leorio?" Leorio made a 'so-so' motion with his hand, "You were a bit bothersome. I like you but sometimes silence is nice." Quinton pulled out his notepad and wrote something down. Then stuffed it back in his pocket.

Riley placed the cupcakes on the table. "Happy birthday," she said sweetly as she sat down. "Another day living." "That's the opposite of what Quinton said," Leorio said. Quinton paid no mind to this, he was fixed on the cupcakes. He looked at D. "Four different kinds," he asked. "You made four different kinds?" Leorio raised a brow. "You made these," he asked.

D nodded. "Yep," he said. "And you get first pick." Leorio glanced at the clock. He had thirty minutes before clinic duty. He shrugged and looked back at the cupcakes. "What kind," he asked.

"Blue frosting is chocolate, purple frosting vanilla, brown frosting is yellow, and white is red velvet," D said. Leorio nodded and took the yellowcake. D took the red velvet, Riley took the chocolate. Quinton, of course, was happy to get vanilla. They are their cupcakes chatting. As friends do.

"These are really good cupcakes," Leorio said to D. "Did you really make them." "Yeah," D responded. "Well, with the help of Riley." Quinton nodded. "Yeah, they left to make them because D panicked when he realized we had none," he said. "We all got here early to put up streamers- oh no. I forgot to put up the streamers."
