Prompt: Needing each other
(This takes place before they got together)

Kurapika sat at the desk in the corner of the room. He didn't understand why he needed to stay at a hotel for a week. Just for a job that would only take one day.

Melody had tried to talk to him, days before but he blew her off. In all honesty, he didn't feel bad about it. Even if she has seemed a little upset for the past days. But Kurapika was upset, he missed Leorio. He thought about texting or calling him but decided against it. He was never able to start conversations.

Kurapika looked up as there was a knock on his door. "Come in," he said.

Melody opened the door. "Kurapika," she said. "Are you okay?"

Kurapika couldn't help it, he started crying. Melody ran over to him. "Kurapika!?"

He looked at her and wiped some tears from his eyes. Melody looked worried. "I miss him," Kurapika said. "I miss Leorio, Melody. And I don't have the courage to call him." Melody frowned.

"I want him to call me," Kurapika continued. "I miss him so much. I wish I could call him but I don't know what to say. 'Hey, Leorio it's Kurapika. Sorry for not calling sooner I was ghosting you.' Gosh, it sounds so stupid."

Melody grabbed a chair and moved it closer to the desk. She sat. "Why do you miss him," she asked. "All of a sudden you want to call him after ignoring all his calls."

Kurapika let out a small laugh. "It's a stupid reason," he said wiping another tear from his eye. "I guess him calling me reminded me of how much he cared. Even if I did ignore him it made me feel nice. When I was upset I listened to his voicemails."

Melody moved in closer to Kurapika. "Kurapika," she said. "Do you... like Leorio?"

Kurapika was silent. "Yeah," he said silently. "I guess I do. And I want him to like me too."

Melody pushed Kurapika's phone closer to him. "Call him," she said. "Tell him you miss him."

Kurapika looked at the phone. "Thanks, Melody," he said. "I'm sorry about the other day." Melody nodded and then left the room.

Kurapika picked up his phone. He looked over Leorio's contact. And ever so hesitantly pressed the call button. The video call.

Leorio sat on his bed. He was alone again. Gon and Killua had left. So did Kurapika. Well, Kurapika never answered his calls or text. He never called him either. Leorio sighed and walked to the kitchen. A drink or two wouldn't hurt.

Leorio pulled out a bottle of alcohol and sat at the coffee table. He had his phone next to him just in case. But if he were drunk he probably wouldn't answer a call (or text) from Killua and Gon. For Kurapika he didn't have to think about it. Then his phone lit up. Someone was calling him, he looked at the contact on the screen. It was Kurapika.

Leorio answered and Kurapika's face appeared on the screen. "Hi, Leorio," he said. "I'm sorry for not answering you at all. I've been busy." From the way Kurapika wasn't looking at him, Leorio could tell he was lying. But he didn't bring it up.

"Hey," Leorio said. "It's okay. It's okay. I guess I've been busy too." He took another sip from his bottle.

"Leorio," Kurapika said. "Are you drunk?"

"No," Leorio replied. "Just... drinking."

"I'll hang up."

"No, Kurapika. Please stay on. I missed talking to you."

Kurapika's face went red. He missed talking too.

Leorio sighed. "Sorry," he said. "Sorry if that sounded weird."

Kurapika shook his head. "No it's alright," he said. "You're drunk anyway."

Leorio huffed. He was not drunk, but if Kurapika thought he was he would play along with it. "How are you," he asked.

Kurapika shrugged. "I'm fine," he said.

Leorio smiled. "Why'd you call all of a sudden," he asked.

Kurapika blushed. "I missed you," he replied. Then he sighed rubbing his temples. "You're drunk so I guess I can tell you this. Judging on how you drink you'll be wasted and forget by morning."

Leorio raised an eyebrow, despite this he was trying not to act too curious.

Kurapika sucked in a deep breath. Should he say it? Yes. He was going to.

"Leorio," Kurapika began. "I missed you a lot. Even if I never answered I missed you spamming me with text and voicemails. I missed hearing your voice even if we were arguing. And I guess," he paused taking another deep breath, "I guess I like you Leorio. A lot. In a way that's more than friends. I guess that I love you."

Leorio was silent. He was in shock. How was he supposed to respond? Did he like Kurapika too? "I suppose," he said. "I suppose I feel the same way. I like you too." Leorio could see Kurapika with his face buried in his hands. "Goodnight, Pika."

Kurapika looked up and nodded. "Goodnight Leorio."

"Oh, by the way, Kurapika. I didn't even finish half the bottle."
