Late

Prompt: Sleeping in

Kurapika yawned. He was lying next to Leorio in bed. How many movies did they watch last night? Kurapika didn't know the exact number but he knew that they fell asleep at around two a.m. He slowly sat up and stretched. What time was it?

Kurapika looked at the clock. 10:37 a.m. Shit. He placed his hands on Leorio's shoulders and shook him lightly. "Leorio," he said. "Leorio wake up."

Leorio sleepily opened his eyes. "What," he asked.

Kurapika paused for a moment. His sleepy voice was kind of attractive. He shook those thoughts out of his head. "Leorio you're late for work," he said.

Leorio looked at the clock. He was supposed to be at work at eight this morning. He grabbed his phone. His notifications were filled with missed calls and unanswered text from his teammates. He jumped out of bed. "Kurapika," he said grabbing work clothes from the closet. "Why didn't you tell me that I was late?"

Kurapika climbed out of bed too. "Because I just woke up too," he said reaching into the bottom drawer of his dresser. "You should set an alarm in the morning."

Kurapika pulled his suit out of the bottom drawer. Where was he going? "Crap," he muttered. "I forgot to get a new shirt." He looked at Leorio. "Do you have one?"

Leorio was buttoning up his shirt. "Yes," he said. "But it's too big for you. You'll have to use the stained one."

Kurapika sighed and opened another drawer. He pulled out his old shirt which now had a pink stained sleeve.

On the other side of the room, Leorio was putting on his tie in the mirror. "Where are you going," he asked.

Kurapika was changing into his suit. "I have a meeting in an hour," he said. "And I need to meet Melody and Basho in thirty minutes." He buttoned his suit coat and ran into the bathroom Leorio followed him. They both brushed their teeth and combed their hair.

"You need breakfast," Kurapika asked.

Leorio shook his head. "No," he said. "I'll get a bagel in the hospital cafe. Do you need a ride?"

Kurapika nodded. "Yeah," he said. "Go wait in the car."

While Leorio waited in the car, Kurapika grabbed a granola bar in the kitchen. He couldn't be late today. That would be bad not only for him but for his co-workers too. He ran outside and jumped into the car. "Just go to the usual place," he said buckling his seatbelt. Leorio began to drive.

Soon enough, Leorio arrived at where Kurapika was supposed to be. Kurapika unbuckled and kissed Leorio's cheek. "I love you," he said. "Have a good day at work and I'll try not to get hurt."

Leorio looked at him. "You better not," he said. "And I love you too."

Kurapika smiled and shut the door. Then he ran to the door. Leorio watched him, making sure he got inside. Then he drove off.

At 10:58 Leorio made it to the hospital. As he promised Kurapika, he quickly ran to the cafe and grabbed a bagel. He ran to his office where his team was already waiting. All three of them were still in their seats. When he opened the door they all looked up.

Dr. Kinen, a fairly young woman smiled at his entrance. "Ah, Paldaknight," she said. "Glad you could make it after three hours."

Leorio scowled. "Haha," he said sarcastically. "Sorry, I'm late."

Another one of his teammates, Dr. Reynolds let out a small laugh. "Why were you late," he asked. "Long night?"

Leorio glared at him but didn't answer. "Did we get any cases," he asked.

Dr. Kinen threw a file in front of Leorio. "Yep," she said. "Thirteen-year-old female has been losing her appetite and has a bad cough. We took her temperature, it's at forty degrees celsius. Personally, I think her parents are overreacting."

Leorio looked at the case file and back up at his team. "Does anyone have any ideas," he asked. His team shook their heads in response. He sighed. "It's pneumonia," he said. "Seriously, you guys should know this."

The team exchanged glances. "What are you doing sitting there," Leorio asked. "Go tell her parents she'll be fine! Tell them what she needs to be treated and carry on with your day."

The whole team stood at once and left the room. Leorio groaned and set his head on the table. He needed coffee and probably a nap too. Soon he found himself wondering if Kurapika was alright.
