"Doctor Paladiknight," a high-pitched voice called. "Doctor Paladiknight!" Leorio stopped and turned. Melody ran after him. To put it in the nicest way possible, Melody was not one to be considered beautiful. She was a pudgy woman with silver hair that fell to her back. Her two front teeth had grown over her bottom lip in a way that might look unnatural. But overall she looked cute. Only in an animal-like way. Despite her looks, she was very popular. It must've been her kindness. Or maybe the fact she was cursed and had once been beautiful.

Leorio smiled. "Melody," he said. "What pleasure may I grant to you this fine evening? I just left your place of work." The woman stopped to catch her breath. "Sorry," she apologized. "Sorry for stopping you and being unable to find you a suitable job." Leorio chuckled. "It's fine," he replied. "Though you didn't have to run after me to apologize." Melody shook her head. "No. I didn't come out here to say sorry. I might have found you a job."

Leorio paused, shocked by this response. His magic wasn't great. Mostly used for healing and the occasional flashlight. What kind of job could it be? Hopefully one with a good pay. One that he was useful for. One that he wouldn't turn down because of the rank or area.

"You did?" Leorio asked, shielding the excitement in his voice. "What is it?" Melody beckoned Leorio to follow her. "I'll tell you when we get back," she said. "But the person you'll be working with isn't too thrilled." Leorio frowned. "Oh. Aren't they?" He followed Melody back to the giant building. It didn't have a name, that or it had been forgotten. All that was known was that anyone who used any type of magic could get hired there. That or they could get a temporary job from there. From cleaning stables, to fighting demons, to capturing dragons. Any job that required magic would be found there.

Leorio walked in with Melody. It was all too familiar. He came here often to find a job. Living in the slums would do that. But instead of gearing to the reception, today Leorio was led to the back room. The room with a gold plate that read Employees Only.

Leorio cleared his throat. "Are you sure I should be back here," he asked. Melody looked up, not letting go of the man's wrist. "It's for the job," she said. "It's very important. And it's very rare for someone to get a job like this." "I feel like you might be exaggerating a bit." "Not at all."

Melody brought Leorio into a room lit by candles only. But they gave off enough light for Leorio to see who was standing there. "Kurapika," he said cheerfully. His glee wasn't returned when Kurapika grumbled in response. "Doctor Paladiknight."

Kurapika happened to be Leorio's favorite worker there. It was his personality that made it that way. He wasn't afraid to snap back at anything Leorio said. Whether it was about his hair or the jobs he recommend. And he teased Leorio with the recommendations. Giving him jobs too high or too low for his rank. That or jobs not fit for his magic type. It was more of a one-sided friendship. As Kurapika was Leorio's only "friend".

Kurapika's hair was a golden blonde and fell to his collarbone. His eyes were a grey-blue and just by looking in them, you could see his emotion. His skin was fair, blending perfectly with his rosy-pink lips. Long eyelashes and a slim figure made him look feminine, despite being born male. To Melody, he seemed tall but to Leorio he was much shorter. Standing only at 5'7.

Kurapika usually wore a black suit. But today he wore something different. A blue tabard that stopped at his middle, trimmed with gold. Paired with it, a long skirt-like bottom of the same colors. Underneath both parts was a white long-sleeved shirt and pants. And a red earring could be seen hanging from his ear if you looked close enough. On each of his fingers was a silver ring connecting to a chain that led under his sleeve. This outfit suited him.
