"Hey Paladiknight," one of Leorio's classmates ran into the break room. "The team you're studying with has a new case. The patient requested you." Leorio stood up, leaving his coffee on the table. While walking through the hall he slipped on his coat. Who would be personally requesting him? Gon? Maybe Killua?

Leorio spotted his team down the hall. They were discussing something. One of them, Dr. Ramirez was the first to notice him. "Hey, the students here," she said. Leorio hated being called "the student". Yes, he was still a student but he had made it far enough to work on cases with a team. He didn't have his own yet but that was his goal.

Dr. Ramirez pointed her thumb into the room beside them. "Patient wanted to talk to you," she said. "He wouldn't talk to anyone else so they had the change the team on the case to ours. But he still won't talk to us. Only you. Request by name. You must feel special."

Leorio sighed and walked into the room. The patient sitting on the bed was looking out the window with a wistful look. Blonde hair framed his face. Leorio immediately knew who it was. "Kurapika," he said.

Kurapika turned to Leorio and smiled. "Hey," he said. He didn't get to say much more before being locked in a hug from Leorio. Leorio pulled away. "How are you," he asked. "I mean obviously not good because you're here but-" "I have been doing fine. just had an accident."

Leorio walked around to the end of the bed to look at Kurapika's clipboard. Three gunshot wounds, a broken rib, and many bruises, not good. Leorio looked up at Kurapika, who was now looking at the bedsheets. Leorio put the clipboard back on the side of the bed and pulled out his phone. "I'm texting Gon and Killua," he said. "They really want to see you."

Kurapika gripped the blanket. "I'm sorry," he said. He looked up from the bed his hair covering half of his face. He tucked it behind his ear. A blush crept onto Leorio's face. For a man in the hospital, he looked cute. Very cute.

A tear fell down Kurapika's face. "I'm so sorry," he said. "I should've answered your calls. I didn't want to make you worry. The last thing I wanted was for you to see me again like this. I'm sorry. So sorry. Please forgive me." By this time Kurapika was now crying. He wept the tears on his face but they continued to fall.

Leorio ran to his side and hugged him again. "Don't apologize," he said. "You're fine. You're fine." "You hate me, d-don't you?" Leorio pulled Kurapika away from him and looked him right in the eye. "Kurapika, I could never hate you. There's nothing you could ever do to make me hate you." Kurapika snuffled. "Are you sure?" "Absolutely."

Kurapika sadly smiled. "Thank you," he said. "That makes me feel much better." He yawned and looked at Leorio. "C-can I go to sleep," he asked. "I'm tired." Leorio smiled. "Of course," he replied. "You'll be staying a few nights anyway so it doesn't matter." Kurapika nodded and lied his head down on the pillow.

Leorio walked out of the room smiling. His co-workers noticed almost immediately. "Old friend," a man named Dr. Wood asked. Leorio nodded. "I haven't seen him in a while," he replied. "Haven't talked to him either." The leader of the team, Dr. Chase closed the case file. "Then I guess you'll have no problem treating him," he said. "You do the work and call on any of us if you need help." He and the rest of the team walked away, leaving Leorio in the hall outside the room.

Leorio's phone chimed. He looked at it. A reply from Gon and Killua. They would have to visit tomorrow, today they were busy. Leorio sighed and put the phone back in his pocket. He had nothing to do until further notice from the team. He opened the door to Kurapika's room. When he walked in Kurapika had already fallen asleep.

He looked calm. If Leorio hadn't known him, he would've thought he was incapable of killing. Leorio found himself fantasizing. He thought about lying in bed with Kurapika. Just cuddling. Kurapika's head on his chest as he rubbed the small of his back with one hand. The other hand had his fingers run through Kurapika's blonde hair. And Leorio would feel Kurapika's warmth as the smaller boy slept in his arms. If only.

"Paldaknight," a voice snapped Leorio out of his daydream, Dr. Ramirez. "Your friend here needs to eat at a regular schedule. Right now he should be having lunch. Wake him up and get it to him." Leorio nodded. "Yes ma'am," he said, standing. Dr. Ramirez smiled and walked out of the room.

(A Week Later)

Leorio walked into Kurapika's room. He was standing, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, and packing his bag. Leorio could see bandages running down his arms from where he was shot and bruised. "What are you doing," he asked. Kurapika jumped and turned to Leorio. "Don't scare me like that," he said. "You said yesterday that I was leaving today." Leorio nodded. "I did say that but you can't just go," he replied. "You've been in the hospital for days. Don't you know  that there are processes you need to do before leaving?" Kurapika brushed a few loose strands of hair out of his face. The rest was in a ponytail.

"You can tell me the process," he said. "And help me with it." He smiled at Leorio, who's face turned a light red. "O-okay," he said.

Kurapika noticed Leorio blush but said nothing. He realized that if he could make Leorio blush, he could make him do practically anything. Anything that wouldn't get him in trouble. "Oh," Kurapika said. "Before I leave could you change my bandages?" Leorio nodded. "I was planning to," he said. "In fifteen minutes I will. And when you get back to work no actual 'working'. I'm one-hundred-percent sure that's what got you here."

Kurapika fell silent. "Yeah," he replied. "It was because of work. We were supposed to make a trade but the other people didn't have enough money. It was a pricey ruby. After we called off the trade and left, they jumped me on the street. They beat me and stole the ruby. They called the ambulance themselves and bolted," he let out a small laugh, "bastards."

Kurapika stood next to Leorio outside. He was waiting for his ride. There was still a pain where he got shot and in his side. He would probably end up listening to Leorio and not actually work. The pain wasn't worth it.

Soon enough a car pulled up. A work partner of Kurapika's honked the horn. "Get in," he yelled. "Boss is upset about the ruby and you, of course." Kurapika nodded and began walking to the car. Leorio turned around to go inside.

"Leorio wait!" Kurapika called out to him. Leorio turned around to see the blonde running up to him. When Kurapika caught up to him he grabbed his tie and pulled him in, placing a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you," he said after he pulled back. "For everything."

He turned back around and climbed into the car, leaving Leorio standing there in a daze. He chuckled. He now had power over Leorio. And he didn't regret it. After all, the kiss meant more.
