Putting The Pieces Together

"Leorio, Killua, Gon," Kurapika called. "Come to the living room, it's lunchtime!" Leorio didn't set down his pencil. "I'll be out in a minute," he replied. "Now, Leorio! You need to eat!" Leorio slammed his pencil down on the desk. "Okay," he said. "I'm coming!" Leorio stood from his desk and walked from his study.

Everyone else was in the living room with their plates. Gon tossed a strip of bacon to Max. "Oh, Leorio," Kurapika said. "You're plate is in the kitchen. It's on the counter by the sink." Leorio nodded and walked to the kitchen. He grabbed his plate which had half of a BLT. 

When Leorio came into the living room Gon looked at him then at Kurapika. "Why does Leorio have a smaller sandwich than us," he asked. Kurapika bit his lip. "Well," replied. "Leorio needs to get back to work. And he's not too hungry." 

Leorio looked at Kurapika. "Where are my pills," he asked. "I've been leaning over my desk all day and my back hurts." Kurapika looked at him. "It hasn't been two hours yet," he answered. "You need to follow the instructions." Leorio sighed, "How many more minutes?" Kurapika looked at the clock, "At least twenty minutes."

Leorio set down his plate. "Can I see the bottle," he asked. "Not to take any but just to read the instructions." Kurapika pulled the bottle out of his pocket. "It's okay," he said. "I'll read it." He turned the bottle over to read. "Okay," he said. "It says to take one or two, every two hours, depending on the pain. Blah, blah, blah, useless stuff. A list of medications, by name, that you shouldn't take with it. Oh. Your headache medicine is on here. It says that taking those medications with this could cause, drowsiness, headaches, nausea, and vomiting..."

Kurapika looked up at Leorio. "Leorio you said you took those medications at the same time," he said. "And the reports said in large amounts. Did you know this stuff?" Leorio took a sip of water, avoiding the question. "So, Gon, Killua," he said. "When are you guys going back? You're staying at Mito's for Christmas morning, correct?" Killua and Gon looked at each other. "The twenty-third," Killua responded. "But I think you should answer Kurapika."

Leorio cleared his throat, looking at Kurapika. "I think we should talk about this in private," he said. Kurapika stood. "Fine," he said. "Where?" Leorio stood too. "I think our room," he said. "Because there are very few things you can throw at me there." Kurapika stormed down the hall. Leorio looked at Killua and Gon. "If I'm not back in three hours and Kurapika is, call the police," he said.

Kurapika was sitting on the bed. "Leorio," he said. "Did you know about this?" Leorio bit his lip. "Yes," he muttered. "I did know." Kurapika gulped. "But you did it anyway," he said. "How often did you take them?" Leorio shrugged. "After my appointed mealtimes, for sure," he said. "Wheither I ate or not. Other than that, just whenever I could."

Kurapika's lip trembled. "Did you use them to make yourself puke," he asked. "Or was it for pain? Or-or both?" Leorio opened his mouth to speak. "Both," he said. "And I'm so sorry." Tears starting falling down Kurapika's face. "Why didn't you tell me," he cried. "I should've known! I wouldn't be mad! I'm not mad!"

Leorio couldn't stand to see Kurapika so upset. He began to cry too. "Kurapika," he replied. "I wanted to tell you. I wanted to get help. But I couldn't. I'm so sorry. I really am. Please forgive me." "I don't need to apologize," Kurapika sniffed. "You shouldn't be sorry. Just promise me, you'll eat more." Leorio wiped tears from his eyes. "I promise," he said. "I promise I will. And I won't force myself to puke. I promise."

Leorio and Kurapika crawled into bed. They stayed there for a bit, cuddling. Soon enough, they fell asleep. All while Killua and Gon played video games in the living room.
