CW: Homophobia, Religion
Kurapika smiled, curled up against Leorio's bare chest. Leorio was playing with his husband's hair, a strand wrapped around his finger.
"You need to shower, baby," Leorio said. "If you don't, you're going to be all gross."
Kurapika sighed. "But I want to cuddle," he whined. "We always cuddle after."
"Not this time. Get up."
"I don't want to."
"Go shower or I'll carry you there myself."
"No."
"You're gross. get up, I'm not actually going to carry you."
"Then you're a liar. And I just want to cu-" He paused and looked the other way. "Someone is knocking on the door," he turned back to Leorio, "They're knocking very softly."
Leorio sighed. "Go get in the shower," he said. "I'll answer the door."
Kurapika sighed and climbed out of bed. Leorio got out of bed too. While Kurapika walked into the bathroom, he put on a pair of boxers and sweatpants. Then, walked downstairs to answer the door.
Leorio opened the door to see a young woman standing there. She had to be between the ages of 16 and 25. Her hair was long and straight. It was brown, as were her eyes. She stood with her back straight, holding a clipboard to her chest. Her shirt was a white woman's button-up and her skirt was red with a black plaid pattern. She smiled when Leorio opened the door.
"Hello, sir," she cheerfully said. "My name is Sarah! Can you spare a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Jesus Christ!"
Leorio paused. He did have a moment to spare. But he didn't want to talk about God after what he had just done upstairs. Or while wearing no shirt. "Well, uh-"
"That's great! Now before we begin, I do have a few questions for you. Have you ever been to church? Are you religious yourself? Have you ever had sinful thoughts? Such as anxiety, having sexual intercourse before marriage, homosexual tendencies, et cetera."
Leorio pursed his lips. All three. This would be fun. "Well," he said. "I actually-"
"Leo," Kurapika said. "Who is that?"
Leorio turned to Kurapika and smiled. "Don't worry about it, Sunshine," he said. "She was just leaving."
"Hi," Sarah said, ignoring Leorio's statement. "I'm Sarah from the local church. We're just twenty minutes away from this neighborhood and a few of you haven't visited."
Kurapika furrowed his brow and frowned. "Sorry," he said. "But I don't believe in God. As for my husband, he's Catholic but doesn't go to church."
"Well, by the looks of it, you two could use the word of the lord in your life."
Kurapika pulled back. "What does that mean?"
"Well, you two are obviously a gay couple, which is against the word of God."
Kurapika rolled his eyes. "Look," he said. "I am an atheist. I've never believed in any god. Yet, I still know that the part of the Bible that says that was a mistranslation. It was shaming pedophiles, not homosexuals."
"I'm sure that you're incorrect. Anyway, we offer free conversion therapy which inclu-" Just like that, Leorio slammed the door shut. He didn't say a word and went to sit on a couch. He buried his face in his hands.
Kurapika walked over and tilted his head. "What's wrong, baby," he asked.
Leorio sighed. "I hate people trying to force religion onto others," he mumbled. "I also hate conversion therapy."
Kurapika sat next to Leorio and rubbed his back. "Do you want to talk about it," he asked. Leorio shook his head. Kurapika nodded. "Okay," he said. "Do you want to watch a movie?" Leorio nodded.
Kurapika put on a movie and when that ended, another. Then another. Then another. The two spent the rest of the day watching movies. Watching movies together. Like they rather would be, no matter what anyone says.
