Prompt at the end, more of a platonic thing
TW: Suicide Attempt, Self-Harm Implication

Kurapika was almost out of breath. He had been running for a long time and the air was cold. Taking any breath on felt like knives stabbing at his lungs.

An hour run. It had been forty minutes. He did this during the Hunter's Exam but it was so much worse now. Maybe because he was panicked and it was cold.

Kurapika pulled out his phone once again. He called Leorio again and again. He felt like a terrible person. He ignored Leorio's calls and text messages. He didn't care. He didn't care until he was sure that Leorio was dead. Until he was sure that Leorio killed himself.

He recalled that Leorio had texted him the night earlier. He had said, No one ever cares unless you're dead or tried to die. The following message was, You can ignore that, just a thought I had. I'm fine.

Kurapika shouldn't have ignored it. That or any of the texts that came a week earlier. They all hinted at Leorio's deteriorating mental health. Kurapika felt terrible for ignoring the texts. He was upset at himself. He was a horrible friend. He could only hope that Leorio was still alive.

Seventeen minutes later, Kurapika was finally at Leorio's house. He swung the door open and ran inside, not bothering to shut it behind him. He ran down the hall. Every door had been left open. Except for the bathroom.

Kurapika didn't bother knocking on the door. He just opened it. The first thing he saw was Leorio's arm dripping blood. He ran over to the bathtub. Leorio was in the bathtub. He was fully dressed and held a razor blade in his other hand. He looked surprised to see Kurapika.

"Kurapika," Leorio said. "I-"

Kurapika squatted next to the tub. "Leorio," he said. "Come on. Get up."

"What?"

"Get out of the tub. Let's get you cleaned up. Okay? No isn't an answer."

Kurapika took Leorio's hand and pulled him up. He stuck out his other hand. "Give me the blade," he directed. "Now."

Leorio dropped the blade in Kurapika's hand. He walked over and opened the window. He dropped the blade.

"What the hell," Leorio yelled.

"It's for your own good," Kurapika responded. "Now where's your first aid kit? Is it still in your room?"

Leorio nodded. Kurapika walked down the hall to Leorio's room. He grabbed the first aid kit and quickly made his way back to the bathroom.

Kurapika cleaned both of Leorio's arms. They were covered in cuts and burns. Kurapija didn't need to ask how they got there. He knew well enough.

"Do you need to go to the hospital," Kurapika asked once done taking care of Leorio's arms.

Leorio shook his head. "No. I'm okay."

Kurapika placed his hand on Leorio's forehead. "You're cold," he said. "Are you sure that you're okay?"

"Yeah. It was just the water."

"Okay. Go change your clothes. Do you have anything in your room?"

"...Yes."

"Alright. Then I'll come too. Thank you for being honest."

Leorio walked with Kurapika into his room. Kurapika sat on the bed while Leorio changed his clothes. He still felt bad but he was relieved that Leorio was alive.

"Come on, Leorio," Kurapika said. "Into the living room. You should lay down, warm up, and relax."

Leorio nodded. "Kurapika," he said. "Can we, uhm, can we cuddle? For body heat."

Kurapika nodded. "Of course," he said. "If you need anything just tell me, okay?"

Leorio nodded. He and Kurapika walked into the living room. They lied down on the couch together. Leorio's head was against Kurapika's chest, listening to his heartbeat. It was calming.

"I'm sorry, Kurapika," Leorio mumbled.

"No-no," Kurapika said. "You don't need to apologize. I should apologize. I ignored your texts. I shouldn't have."

"I shouldn't have bothered you or cause you to panic."

"No. I'm glad that you texted me tonight. I was able to get here on time and help you."

"Thank you."

"Of course, Leorio. You're my best friend. I love you."

"I love you too, Kurapika. I won't do it again."
