Psychiatric Facility AU
TW: Mentions of past suicide attempts, harassment, delusions"I don't belong here," Kurapika grumbled.
"That isn't my decision or yours," his lawyer, Mr. Gardner said. "It was the judges and he said you should go here. You stay here for a week and then you can leave whenever you want. However, you must go to the group therapy on Tuesday and the one-on-one counseling on Thursday."
Kurapika sighed. "Alright," he said. "I guess I can last as long as I'm not with the psychos."
"The 'psychos' are in Ward C. You'll be in Ward A."
"What people are in Ward A?"
"Suicidal people, people with anger issues like you, drug addicts, and alcoholics. Of course, there are some people with other disorders but they aren't crazy."
"What kind of disorders?"
"Sadly, I don't know enough to tell you that. Now, I'll get you signed in."
The entire process of getting Kurapika signed in, giving him information, and showing him around the ward took about forty minutes. By the end, he was already ready to leave. The people here were crazy anyway. He seemed to be the only sane person.
"Well, Kurapika," his lawyer said. "I'll see you in a week. Hopefully, by then, you'll have gained control of your emotions."
"Yeah yeah. Goodbye."
When he left, Kurapika stood alone in the lounge room. It didn't seem bad but he had no intention of associating with these people. The room had a foosball table, air hockey, a shelf of books and board games next to a table.
There was also a television and a couch. It seemed that the people here took care of the patients.By the front of the room, across from the entrance was a small window. Kurapika could see nurses walking around and chatting in the room. He assumed that was where the patients got their medication. Luckily, Kurapika wasn't prescribed meds. He could only assume many of the other people here were.
Kurapika walked over to the bookshelf and examined the books. He could feel the group sitting at the table staring at him.
There was nothing good on the shelf. No murder mystery, no sad stories, no adult romance. Nothing. He just grabbed a random book and walked over to the center of the room. He sat and leaned against the pillar. Then he began to read.
About thirty minutes later, everyone was called for lunch. Every single person walked down to the cafeteria. Some patients were given medication with their food while others were just told to sit.
After getting his meal, Kurapika sat by himself. He had brought the book with him and instead of eating he was reading.
Kurapika jumped when someone spoke to him. "Hey there."
Kurapika looked up. Someone had sat across from him. A man. He was tanned, not white, but tan. His hair was ruffled and brown and his eyes were hazel.
Kurapika looked this man up and down. "Hi," he responded. He looked back down at his book.
"You're new right," the man asked. "What's your name?"
"I am new," Kurapika responded. "And I have no intention of giving you my name as I don't plan to stay long."
The man chuckled. "Come on Sunshine," he said. "Is is that hard to utter one word?" He stuck out his hand. "I'm Leorio."
Kurapika looked at Leorio's hand. There was a scar on his palm. It was a cross. There was a similar scar on his other hand.
