~5 months later~
Pine-Tree was walking around the other dimension, climbing trees, picking up flowers, he even waited until night so he could play with the water in the lake. He did the same things almost every time he was there. It never got old to him. Every time Bill allowed him to travel to this world he would jump at the opportunity. He even made a few friends.
"Come on, kid! I totally won." Said a gnome who was holding a ton of different colored flowers.
"Alright, alright, alright. I guess you did get more. Fine, Jeff you win." The boy sighed in defeat. Giving the gnome an emerald colored stone.
"AHA! Yes!" Jeff exclaimed. "Victory!"
Pine-Tree giggled. "Hey, by the way, any luck on finding a queen yet?" He asked, leaning up against a tree.
The gnome looked down. "Not yet, we tried to get this one girl, I think her name was Mabel. She's lived here her whole life but we never really had a plan to make her our queen. But a couple of weeks ago we tried to dress up as a human boy she named Norman and propose to her, but it didn't go well, her Grunkle Ford stopped us." Jeff explained.
"Darn, so close! Also- what the Savior Cipher is a 'Grunkle'?" Pine-Tree asked, curiously.
The gnome thought for a moment. "I'm pretty sure a Grunkle is a Great Uncle but the words are squished into one to make it not as long. That's what she calls him at least."
"A Great Uncle... So this 'Grunkle Ford' is a human like her?"
Jeff nodded. "She also has a Great Uncle Stan. She lives with them in some shack not far from here. I can take you there if you want." He offered.
"Gee, I'd love that! But Bill said I'm not supposed to go anywhere near humans; says they can be dangerous."
Jeff looked utterly confused at the boy's statement. "They don't seem very dangerous to me. Except their leaf blowers. I hate leaf blowers."
The two both laughed at Jeff's comment.
"Well, I should be heading home now. It's been fun, Jeff! I'll see you next week?"
"You bet! Thanks for the cool stone! The other gnomes will be so jealous! Cya, Pine-Tree!"
The two bid their farewell and went their separate ways. As the kid made his way to the darkest part of the forest he could have sworn he heard a voice in the distance. He stopped to try and listen closer.
It was a voice! It had to be! And it was getting closer. Thinking it could just be a fairy or a unicorn, Pine-Tree kept walking, not worrying. But suddenly he ran into something soft and got knocked to the ground. When he looked to see what he had just run into, he saw a girl with long brown hair wearing a pink sweater, a purple skirt, and black shoes. It was a human.
As the girl started trying to figure out what had happened, she looked to see a boy, staring wide eyed at her. He was dressed in very fancy attire, a yellow sweater vest with a black bow tie and black cane. Very strange for someone to wear something like that in Gravity Falls.
The boy quickly got up and started cautiously backing away from her. When she made her way to her feet, the boy bolted it.
"Wait wait! Hey! Wait!" She yelled, running after him. It was very hard to keep up with him. "Wait! Please! I just want to talk!"
The boy kept running. "No! You're dangerous!" He yelled back to her. She was overwhelmed with confusion.
"What? I'm not dangerous! Please just stop! I won't hurt you or anything, I just want to talk! Please stop!" She yelled. Her words seemed to have worked, the boy started slowing down before coming to a stop, making sure to keep his distance from the mysterious girl.
Both tried to catch their breath. "Thanks for- for stopping. Guess who's name is Mabel! Mine! What's yours?" She said enthusiastically.
The boy thought for a minute... should he really be talking to her? Bill said humans are very dangerous... Maybe- Maybe he was talking about adult mortals, this one seems his age, only just a little taller. It can't be too bad, just one conversation won't hurt right?
"M-My name is... P-... P-"
The girl tilted her head. "Patrick?" She guessed.
The boy shook his head, "P-"
"Peter?"
"P-"
"Petra?"
"N-No, it's-"
Mabel snapped her fingers with a wide smile on her face. "I GOT IT! IT'S PENELOPE!"
"NO! Stop guessing!" The boy raised his voice at her.
"Oh- sorry." She responded.
"My name is Pine-Tree." He said. Her smile faded into a face of confusion. "Pine-Tree?" She asked, still kind of confused.
The boy nodded his head shyly. Mabel caught onto his shyness fast and knew just how to respond. "I think that's a great name! Mabel and Pine-Tree! Best buds forever! How's that sound?"
Pine-Tree didn't know how to respond, but thankfully he didn't have to.
"Mabel?! Where are you sweetie?" Two gruff sounding voices came from the distance. The boy gasped, it was bad enough he was talking to a human child, but a human child and an adult??? He couldn't.
Pine-Tree started back away, shooing off the girl. Mabel looked at him with confusion.
"Will I be able to see you again, Pine-Tree?" The girl asked while the men were still shouting for her.
The boy debated whether to answer her question but through his worries, something made him feel comfortable near her, her sprightly attitude was a nice change from Bill's sarcastic and sadistic attitude.
"I come here for a few hours once every week, you can see me then. Please don't tell anyone about me, please!" Pine-Tree said.
Mabel didn't understand the reason for the secrecy but she still went along with it. "Okay, I'll see you then, bye Pine-Tree!" She waved to him before running off towards the voices.
It was almost pitch black by now. So the boy went to the darkest shadow he could find and called out Bill's name.
When he was brought back home, he had a mental argument with himself of whether or not he should tell Bill about his chat with a human. Surely it wasn't that bad, he only told the girl his name after she told him hers...
But he didn't want to risk Bill not allowing him to return to his birth dimension, so he decided not to tell him. If he told Bill and Bill still let him travel there, he certainly wouldn't let him talk to Mabel anymore. Pine-Tree couldn't let that happen. He had to see her again.
He could only wait for that day to come.
