"He took Ford!" Mabel cried hysterically. "He took Ford! He took Grunkle Ford; He burned the journals! What- What do I do? I don't know what to do!"
The girl tried her hardest to control her breathing but her attempts were in vain. She didn't know what to do, she wasn't an adult, she didn't know how to get out of this.
The guilt started getting to her, she didn't stand up for her Great Uncle, she didn't take his journals when he desperately slid them to her, pleading for her to take them but she couldn't; She was scared stiff, her mind wasn't ready for that amount of pressure.
Then soon Bill approached and Ford yelled for her to take cover, so she did, hiding in the staircase leading up to the room they were in, just out of Bill's sight. The girl saw it all happen, Ford yelling and Bill turning him to a gold statue. Could she ever forget that sight?
Mabel stayed in her hiding spot for a good 30 minutes, sobbing her eyes out, until her tears ran out. After she had finished her episode she knew she wasn't in a very good spot, there were monsters that wanted to kill her everywhere. When she came here she had Ford to protect her.
She doesn't have him now.
Mabel knew she had to put her emotions aside and try to get back to the Mystery Shack, but how?
She went back down the stairs and peaked her head out of the doorway, she saw monsters, short, tall, fur, skin, all different colors and shapes running around until a woman came running past her and was turned to stone in front of her.
The girl looked up and saw something she never wanted to see. Her friend, Pine-Tree on the back of the eye-bat that turned that poor woman to stone. She ducked back into the building as a rush of emotions overcame her.
She was sad for the woman and still sad and guilty from her uncle, but was shocked and surprised to see Pine-Tree. He- he betrayed her. She was upset, annoyed, even a little angry. She trusted him and he goes and does this. She showed him nothing but kindness and respect and this is how he repays her?
She had to get to the mystery shack, she peeked back out of the building, Pine-Tree wasn't there anymore. She looked around and decided the route she would take. It involved her jumping over fences, running into shadows, climbing through trees, the whole thing.
Anything that'll keep her alive and well until she gets to the shack. Before they left, Mabel remembered hearing her great uncle say something about how the shack is safe as long as you don't leave the property.
A day or so of running through the town and a few panic attacks on the way, she made it back to the mystery shack. Walking up to it, she could see flickering light coming from the windows, almost as if there were candles being used inside, which wouldn't surprise her. She doubts electricity is a thing right now, but what raised her fear was the sounds of rushing footsteps and whispers coming from inside.
Mabel gripped her lucky grappling hook in her hands, she prepared to go in not knowing who or what she was going to find inside. She stood on the porch mentally readying herself in case she had to fight. When she thought she was ready, she kicked open the door pointing her grappling hook and yelling.
Stan and a bunch of others from the town and creatures from the forest were there, also ready with weapons, yelling back at her before they all noticed it was just Mabel.
"W-Wait... GRUNKLE STAN!" Mabel yelled, tears forming in her eyes as she ran towards her uncle, so incredibly happy to see him.
Stan dropped his bat and opened his arms as his great niece jumped into them. "Mabel! I can't believe it! I thought I lost you forever!"
"No you didn't! I'm here! I'm okay! But-" she said, her energy going down a bit.
"But what, sweetie?
She put her head down. "Great uncle Ford isn't. He was captured by Bill..." everyone in the room gasped. Though, Stan didn't seem too surprised or worried.
Stan sighed. "Serves that jerk right! My brother has had some really stupid plans, but going up again that geometry shape was his worst one yet."
Mabel cocked an eyebrow at his statement. "Wait- so you're not going to help him?"
"Look, kiddo, we have everything we need right here, we have water, food, and almost all the survivors, though- after we finish all the food- I vote we eat the gnomes." Stan said not even really trying to be secretive. That is until Jeff the gnome budded in. "Hey! I'm short, not deaf!" He exclaimed, annoyed.
Stan shushed him. "Shhh stress will make you chewy."
The gnome rolled his eyes at Stan's obvious lack of brain cells.
"But- Grunkle Stan! We can't just hide here, there's a whole world in need of saving! Not to mention my friend is out there! Maybe if I can just get to him I can talk him out of what he's doin-" she started but Stan cut her off.
"Kid... we can't just go out there and save the day like in your movies. Besides, I'm sure nothing bad had happened to any of the other townsfolk." He said, accidentally putting his arm down on a remote, turning on the TV. The channel it was on was the news channel and they were live!
"This is Shandra Jiminez reporting live from the inside of Bill's castle-"
Everyone looked at the TV until Geoff gasped and pointed at something behind Shandra. "Is that- Pine-Tree?" He asked, seemingly a little surprised.
Mabel looked closer and saw him in the background talking to some of Bill's friends. She looked down. "Yeah- it is..." she was disappointed; he really is working with Bill.
"Viewers are advised to look away if they don't want to see their friends turned into a twisted throne of human agony." The reporter said, as they showed Bill's large throne. "Is there no one who will save the people of this town?? I'm Shandra Jiminez and I'm being turned into stone- by a flying eyeball." With that she and her cameraman were turned to stone and the screen went staticy.
Stan, like the rest of the survivors, stared at the television screen, quite horrified... he knew who the child in the back really was from the moment he saw him in the lab... and he was working with Bill to cause all this madness...
Pine-Tree Cipher is really Dipper Pines.
