"I COULDN'T DO IT!" Pine-Tree yelled before recoiling back to his tense stance, shame in his eyes and soul. He really didn't want to say those words to the demon, never.

But however, Ensley was right.

He had to tell Bill at one point or another, what else was he supposed to do? Live his life on the run from a vicious, ruthless, cruel demon? No. He didn't think so. Though, at this very moment, it didn't feel like such a bad option.

Bill had a completely emotionless expression. Not that Pine-Tree could see; he had his head down with nothing but guilt, fear, and shame filling his entire heart and soul.

The room was silent. More silent than before. It's as if the world had stopped spinning, as if everything had paused in space, even the particles in the air felt still.

Pine-Tree was too focused on how bad the tension and fright was, he didn't notice the fact that he couldn't even breathe. The silence was suffocating. It took the air out of the room.

The time it took for Bill to respond was a few seconds but it felt like hours. The wait for the boy was unbearable. His feet fidgeted over one another. The kid's mind raced with thought of what's about to happen. How bad things were about to get.

"Oh, really." Bill said, emotionlessly to match his expression. "Is that true?" He asked, looking at Ensley, knowing she wouldn't dare to lie to him.

"Y-Yes, sir..."

"Hmm." He said after a couple more seconds of silence. "Okay."

This response caught both Ensley and Pine-Tree off guard. "W-What?" The boy stuttered out.

"Fine." Bill said, bluntly.

"Y-You're o-okay with this?"

The demon thought for a moment about this question, planning out what he actually felt about the situation given at hand. "Sure. It would seem you weren't ready." He said, maintaining the same emotionless state he has been in since Pine-Tree told him the news.

When the boy came in and Bill saw the way he looked down with shame, he knew what he was about to hear was not going to be what he wanted to hear and truth-be-told he was not happy about it at all.

"Y-You're taking this s-strangely well." Pine-Tree said.

"Yeah, I suppose I am. I should have known you wouldn't have been able to do it." Bill said, picking up Pine-Tree, grabbing Ensley's wings, and flying them both into the hall. "What was I thinking? Asking you to do that? I was setting myself up for disappointment."

Pine-Tree thought about that statement for a moment 'I was setting myself up for disappointment.' That means Bill is disappointed in him...

Ensley looked over and saw the glum look on Pine-Tree's face, she didn't like it at all. She couldn't tell what he was feeling, but it certainly wasn't a good emotion and if it wasn't good, she didn't want him to feel it, she wanted to talk to him right now but she knew better, she just stayed still, allowing Bill to carry her off to who knows where.

"It's on me for not knowing you wouldn't be up for completing such a simple little task and the fact that you don't know how much of an idiot you are for not doing such."

Bill just took responsibility??? If anything, that scared the two more than anything else ever could. Now they know Bill is really upset and is planning something, they just can't tell what.

What is he going to do to them?

He could hurt them or kill them or...

Bill put the two down, when they looked around they were surprised. What surrounded them was Pine-Tree's room.

When the two looked back at Bill, he seemed oddly calm. "Well. The Pines family still being alive will definitely cause problems, but you didn't kill them. What to do now?" He asked himself.

Ensley looked at Pine-Tree while he did the same before looking back towards the demon in front of them.

"S-So you're okay... with this?"

The few seconds of sudden silence were instantaneously broken by laughter from Bill. The laughs creeped Pine-Tree and Ensley out. He didn't say yes which was not at all a good sign.

Neither of them knew what was going through the demon's mind.

The confused and frightened faces on the two made Bill completely double-down in a fit of laughter. Laughter that went on for a longer time than it should have. Though, while the demon was laughing his hat off, Pine-Tree and Ensley's anxiety over the situation only grew stronger.

After a while Bill finally began to calm himself down, wiping a few tears out of his eye and taking a breath.

"Ahhh boy! That was funny. 'Am I okay with this'!" He chuckled. "No, I'm not. However, you care about those stupid mortals don't you? That is why you didn't kill them right?" He asked.

The boy slowly nodded. Now that he thought about it, he did seem to care about the slightest bit about them, they might be humans but... still there's something he feels when he's around them.

Upon seeing the kid's nod, Bill became very serious.

"Well then, it seems I'll have to do this by myself since you're obviously incapable of doing the simple task on your own." He said frankly.

Pine-Tree heart dropped. "W-What??"

"You heard me." Bill stated, making his way out, slowly. That is until the boy grabbed his arm.

"P-Please d-don't! They haven't d-done anything! You can't!"

Bill looked back at him, completely annoyed and agitated, ripping his arm out of the boy's grasp and pushing him down onto the floor. Ensley flew over to him and protectively wrapped her arms around him.

"You really are just another idiotic human."

That's what made Pine-Tree's tears start flowing from his eyes.

That hurt.

The boy just looked at him with a face that... just couldn't be read.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have killing to do." The demon said, leaving the room. When he did, the doorknob changed to gold.

"Please no!" Pine-Tree yelled, running out of Ensley's arms and trying to open his door but it was locked. He looked back towards the fairy with a panicked and tear-stained face. "Ensley, c-can't you use m-magic to o-open it or s-something??"

"N-No. I can't. It's a l-locking spell impervious to my powers." She said sadly.

Pine-Tree's tears continued and turned to sobs as he fell to his knees. Ensley held her arms out for him to come, which he did, crawling over to her.

"I d-don't unders-stand a-anyth-thing! I-I'm so scared!" He cried into the fairy's arms.

Light blue liquid filled the girl's eyes as she too started crying. "I'm scared too, Pine-Tree..."

"I'm scared too."
