❹❶ The Figure

——————— 2 years later ———————

It had been a couple of years now since everything happened with Sephiroth and since then things have been going smoothly, me and Reno have been dating for about 2 years now and even live in a nice house on the outskirts of the sector 5 slums. The house is a lot nicer than anything in the slums which did always make me feel guilty however, I made it up to the people by helping Aerith with daily flowers runs as well as becoming one of the two Mercs within Midgar's slums alongside Cloud. Reno still worked as a Turk which did worry me to some extent with now knowing what Shinra has done but, it pays well and he's happy so I can't complain.

It was a bright and vibrant afternoon as I got some house work done while Reno was out on duty, house work was never my favourite but someone had to do it. I sighed softly as I set a basket down full of wet clothes outside by the washing line carefully hanging them up as I hummed along to a song which I listened to through me headphones, i took a deep breath taking In the fresh scent of the recently washed clothes smiling softly as I let my body relax in the heat of the day. I continued to hum however, my song was interrupted as I saw a certain Merc walking up the path to mine and Reno's house. I sighed slightly taking my headphones off as I walked up to him

"Hey Cloud.... everything ok?" I smiled softly waving slightly at the blondie

Cloud nodded smiling slightly as he waved back "Yeah.... got a job for you"

"Oh.... right.... well what is it?" I smiled opening the front door walking into the house with Cloud following leaning on the wall by the door as I got my gear

"People have been reporting a figure moping around the slums....... making everyone seem uneasy.... some suspect it's an old soldier..... but it's been requested we go and take a look ourselves" Cloud said softly crossing his arms

"Oh right.... I see..... any idea when this figure showed up?" I said softly placing my sword on my back as I then put on some gloves to protect my hands

"Recently I'm pretty sure" Cloud said softly nodding

"And they're threat or?" I turned to look at Cloud stretching slightly

"No... they haven't been reported as a threat.... just a concern really.... although many people have reported that they carry a sword on their hip" Cloud said softly standing up properly as he rolled his shoulders

"Right.... ok.... I'm sure we'll get this done easy.... just gotta talk to them right?" I said softly taking a deep breath as I grabbed a sticky note quickly writing to Reno where I was not to worry him

Cloud nodded and he stretched again walking outside as I followed suit shutting and locking the door behind me throwing the key into a plant pot which held sun flowers just by the door, I then stuck the sticky note on the front door and nodded clicking my knuckles as I looked at the Merc

"Let's do this" I nodded

Cloud also nodded and he smiled slightly as he then started to lead the way down the path into the sector 5 slums. I followed close behind him staying observant of the people around me, I never really had any problems with people within the slums but there had been some suspected Corneo men around on hits recently especially on me and Cloud with our growing popularity within the slums. I took a deep breath waving at people who recognised me wishing me a good day, Cloud would only nod at them slightly not really taking much time to acknowledge them. We stopped at a few stores along the way upgrading our weapons and materia how we could, it helped us and local businesses so overall it was a win, win.

"So..... do you know where this figure currently is?" I said suddenly after a while of walking silently besides the Merc

"They were last reported close to the children's hideout" Cloud said softly stretching his arms slightly as he walked
