Chapter 30

8 months later....

"I'm coming!" Meredith yelled as she rushed towards the front door. Meredith turned the door knob and opened the door. She held out her hands, reaching for Sophia. "Hi baby girl!"

Lexie and Mark smiled as Meredith held Sophia close to her body.

"Derek they're here!" Meredith yelled as Derek stumbled from the other room.

"Hey guys," Derek said smiling at Sophia.

Mark placed the diaper bag on the floor and looked at Meredith as she gave him a piercing stare. Mark realized that she was waiting for them to leave.

"Okay well we don't want to be late for our dinner reservations," Mark said rubbing the sides of Lexie's arms.

"Oh, okay. There are bottles in the bag, put them in the fridge. She just ate, and the binky is in the front left pocket." Lexie rambled as Mark tried to guide her out the door. "Bye mama loves you," Lexie placed a kiss on Sophia's forehead and walked out the door before Mark had to forcefully remove her.

Meredith sighed in relief and locked the door before Lexie could walk back into the house.

"I ordered a pizza, it should be here soon."

Meredith plopped on the couch, still holding Sophia in her arms. "Could you put the bottles in the fridge please."

Derek got up and put the bottles in the fridge. He came back and sat next to Meredith, wrapping his arm around her. Meredith turned on the tv and began to look through the channels as Sophia sat on her lap. Derek kissed Meredith's cheek, he then picked up Sophia. He held her up to his face and began to talk in a baby voice.

"Hi, Sophia! Can you say Derek?"

Sophia tried to say the words, but she couldn't. Suddenly someone knocked on the front door. Meredith got up and walked towards the door, she twisted the knob and opened it. Derek listened closely to make sure she was okay. A few seconds later and Meredith walked into the living room with a box of pizza. She placed it on the coffee table and opened it. Derek placed Sophia on a blanket on the floor and gave her toys to keep her occupied. Meredith and Derek grabbed slices of pizza, eating them with just napkins.

Half of the box was gone and they were both full. They were relaxing on the couch when they smelt a foul smell. Meredith was about to get up when Derek grabbed her arm gently, stopping her.

"I'll change her," Derek smiled, picking up Sophia and carrying her into their bedroom. Meredith continued to watch tv. Meredith realized that they had been gone for a while. Meredith got up and walked to the bedroom to see what was taking them so long. As she approached the room she heard laughter. Meredith creeped towards the bedroom door and saw Sophia and Derek playing on the bed.

"Peekaboo," Derek said as he revealed his face that was covered by his hands. Sophia extorted a laugh that warmed his heart. Derek laughed at Sophia's laughter. Meredith was awe struck, completely in love with the way he was taken by Sophia. She couldn't help but find comfort that he would be the same way with their own children. Their own children, she thought. Meredith's thoughts were interrupted by Derek and Sophia's laughter. Meredith's smile grew on her face and she couldn't help but let out a laugh. Derek turned his head quickly and was shocked to see Meredith standing there. Meredith walked over to Derek and planted a kiss full of love on his lips. Meredith pulled away and smiled.

"What was that for," Derek smiled.

"I love you," Meredith smirked.

Derek began to blush. He picked up Sophia and stole a quick kiss from Meredith. She smiled as he took her hand and led them back to the living room. Meredith went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle for Sophia and warmed it up. Meredith was walking to the living room with a bottle in her hand when it slipped from her grasp.

"Crap," Meredith said as the milk spilled on the floor.

"Crap," Sophia mimicked Meredith. Sophia didn't say the word correctly but she said it close enough to where Meredith and Derek knew exactly what she said.

Meredith and Derek's eyes shot up at Sophia.

"Crap," Sophia repeated.

"No No No don't say that," Meredith said, reaching to pick up Sophia. Derek went to grab a towel to clean up the spilled milk. Derek cleaned the milk with a towel, he looked up to see Meredith holding Sophia and laughing with her. He was mesmerized at how Meredith was so taken by Sophia.

They were going to be amazing parents.
