When Hoseok woke, Yoongi was gone.
He panicked instantly, all fragments of sleep gone from him in as quick as they came last night just from Yoongi beside him. He cursed himself for sleeping so deeply, more so than he had in weeks, just from the other's presence next to him. Was it all a dream?
He immediately noticed the door cracked open, for, in the large house, most rooms had airy windows and doors that led to the landscape surrounding the house. A chill from the outside air sent a shiver up his spine, goosebumps littering his arms. Their house was near the coast, naturally, for it was a fishery estate for Namjoon's quite well-off uncle.
He sprang to his feet, quickly pulling his shoes on and hastening outside to find his runaway lover.
"Yoongi? Yoongi?!" he called out with a worried edge to his voice.
It was daylight again now, Yoongi having been here almost two full days when night would fall, and Hoseok was appreciative for the light to help him seek out his wandering lover who may be hurt, or lost, or confused.
Dirt paths snaked around the house and connected to each other, a few leading into the woods and down by the sea. Hoseok followed his gut and took the largest one into the woods. Yoongi always loved the woods.
Thankfully, the trees were shedding their leaves well now and so Hoseok could see further up ahead. His heart leaped at the sight of silky fabric merge with the earth like water on the ground, catching the light of the sun and he jogged towards it, never breaking his gaze.
"Yoongi!"
A figure turned towards him at the sound of his voice with a bright smile, soft cat-like eyes crinkled with joy, and long sleek hair tied out of his face. The scar over his eye was ever-present, though seemed more faded than he last remembered.
"Hello, Xīn gān. I've missed you." His words were soft and airy, just like Hoseok remembered back in the days when they were new, strolling through the woods on their adventures and to their little spot by the waterfall.
Hoseok's breath caught in his throat at the sight.
"Yoongi?"
He looked...different. Better. Skin unblemished and posture strong as he stood from the ground. His Hanbok was fresh and clean, black with gold lining the edges. He stepped closer to Hoseok with warm eyes and open arms, pulling him in for an embrace. Hoseok's knees nearly buckled under him and he gripped Yoongi towards him harshly, pulling him as close as possible, one hand reaching up to cradle his head.
