"Uh... how much longer...""It's only been 20 minutes, Taehyung. We haven't even reached the passway yet," Soojin explained with slight distaste.
"You better quit your whining. It's almost an extra day longer, so get used to it," Yoongi muttered under his breath.
Taehyung groaned, letting his arms fall limp on either side of his horse.
Hoseok was the last rider in the group, since he was the least proficient at it, and Yoongi had still decided to keep a good distance from him. He couldn't help but eye the rather petty boy up ahead every so often. They'd have to speak eventually. Even if not as friends, or what could have been, if that night had gone differently, but even as mere business partners under the king. Perhaps he would try later when the tension was less suffocating.
Taehyung once again began to sing that tune Hoseok vividly remembers on their way to Seongnam to collect taxes a while back.
"When mom goes out.
To pick oysters
The baby is left alone
At home.
He listens to the lullaby
Sung by the ocean.
He puts his head down
And gradually falls asleep.
The baby is deeply asleep,
But at the sound of the seagull's cry-"
"Dear Maker, do you know any other song?" Namjoon teased with a chuckle.
"What? I like it," Taehung defended himself with a pout.
Eventually Soojin pointed out where they'd branch off if they wanted to take the mountain pass, a rather treacherous and hilly road that they could not ride fast on, which is why the extra day would be added. Not to mention the so-called "ghosts" that Taehyung was deathly afraid of.
