The next morning, Hoseok was shaken awake by Soojin .

“Come on kid, we’ve gotta get going now.”

He would’ve much liked to just lay there and let his body wake up with the sun until the light would prevent him from properly keeping a deep sleep, but it was clear that was not happening.

His body felt stiff from the ground that was his bed for the night, and his eyes felt heavy still with sleep. He dragged himself off the ground, went to piss a safe distance away from the others and climbed back onto Yoongi’s horse, the others all already on their horses waiting for him.

“Someone slept good,” Namjoon pointed out, chuckling at Hoseok’s slit-like eyes and the sway to his step.

“No~” Hoseok muttered with a gravelly voice, attempting to rub the sleep from his eyes.

Yoongi turned around, gazing at him wordlessly and smiling to himself at Hoseok’s disheveled hair and eyes that were barely open. Hoseok felt himself leaning forward onto Yoongi’s back every so often, dozing off accidentally, though Yoongi didn’t say anything, nor did he mind much.

They were not far from Seongnam now, around lunchtime when they’d arrive, and so they set out to ride fast and without stops to the small village where they could get proper lodging and get the boring tax collection over with.

Hoseok praised the Lord the moment he spotted sight of the distant village. Along the way he had spotted markers, posts acting as guides, but he didn’t know they were this close.

“Oh finally! Get me off this horse.” Hoseok announced, nearly throwing himself off.

If he had the choice, he’d never get on one again, for the back pain you receive if not used to such things is very real.

They all joined him a few moments after on foot and Soojin pulled a small tassel banner out of his pack as a representation of the king. All of them didn’t miss the way the townspeople shot glares at them the moment the emblem was shown.
