“Jungkook?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
“Amy.” she stuck her hand out for Jungkook to shake, the boy taking it lightly.
”Sorry, I wanted to meet up sooner, but school, and my plane got cancelled…” Amy explained disheartenedly.
Jungkook shook his head, waving a hand as if to say ‘that’s alright.’
“So, how can I help?”
The two had met up at Namhansanseong--Amy wanting to do her own search and find any clues as to what happened to Hoseok, since the police had better things to do, apparently.
Amy shrugged. “Let’s just walk I guess. I’m not sure where he was going while I was in the tea demonstration.”
They followed the signs, walking around the whole courtyard of the palace and the outside, ending now with the surrounding trails, which Jungkook had suggested they take first since the walking trails were so large, but Amy wanted to make sure to check the other areas first.
“So how do you know Hoseok?” Amy had asked. Jungkook made little effort to start a conversation during the search, a relatively introverted boy he seemed, and Amy felt rather awkward.
“Oh um… we grew up together. He transferred to my school in like… the last year of middle school. We’ve been friends since. Us and one other. Jin. Did he mention Jin?"
Amy shook her head at his question. "He told a few stories once in a while, but never named names."
" You’re… his girlfriend, right? When did that happen?”
Amy giggled at his question.
“We met when Hoseok moved to L.A. and started college there. He was a freshman and I was a sophomore...” She hung her head slightly, voice trailing off in melancholy as she recalled those first few weeks they talked.
They had spent hours now walking, yet not determined to give up. They were wordlessly searching the forest trails, checking the ground they walked on for any sign, not knowing what to be looking for exactly. Maybe they'd find nothing-- or his phone, a piece of clothes. Maybe his red band bracelet that had gotten torn off if he was in any struggle.
