This is the end of the main story folks! I think I might make a Halloween special and maybe a Christmas one, so keep this book somewhere if that's something you'd want to read!

Other than this, the main story is at its conclusion. Feel free to let me know what you think so I can improve future works.

Thank you all my lovely readers and future readers as well for following this little journey. I can't believe I hit over 15k before I marked this as concluded! I wanted to write this a few years ago, but I hadn't the time and courage and decided to take it on at the beginning of Covid. I know it may be "just a dumb fanfic" but it was therapeutic to write and hopefully a nice little escape to my readers.

I will edit this in the future, as I did not correct many typos and didn't have time to complete some things I originally intended. I may add some scenes that I did not have time for in order to keep the story moving, including adding the crown prince as a character, (the list of characters grew quite long) and developing some early scenes of Yoongi and Hoseok becoming closer in more detail. Nothing detrimental or major to the plot will change.

In case anyone is interested on the history, Namhansanseong of course, is a real place you can visit. Hoseok, Taehyung, and Jimin have even visited there together and took photos a little after their debut!

The invasion was also real as well as Chinghae, the advisor, General Han (who fought at the big battle), Sunwu (the Ming officer whom I made a trans character in purely fictional sense), as well as the King and Queen of the time, and the few minor advisors mentioned arguing during the fortress battle.

There are some things I need to correct, but I researched as much as I could, however it can be hard to find some information as a lot of it is in Korean or in gatekept databases. I wanted it to feel somewhat historical without it being boring and keeping my fantasy and fanfic elements. Hopefully you've learned something new!

General Dongjun, the great enemy and betrayer of country was of course not real, however now that you have all read the book, I would like to share my big open-ended secret, that all of this happened because of Hoseok.

Do you remember that day in the woods Hoseok arrived? The first person Hoseok had met was Dongjun. Dongjun had stopped attacking and noticed Hoseok screaming and cowering. He was supposed to die that day in the crossfire, but did not take the same route to his death because of Hoseok. Hoseok had changed something from the very moment that he arrived. Leading to both Yoongi's future suffering and happiness DUN-DUN-DUN!

So yes. The entire book was basically both Hoseok's fault and aid. Because Hoseok did also save Yoongi from bleeding out when he got there as well.

Lastly, TW//

I wanted to quickly address "Yoongi's" suffering by a certain individual in the story. I do not wish to romanticize it in a way that seems like this is something beautiful that happens and that "Yoongi" needed someone to save him, which is why he needed space and time to save himself even "Hoseok" could not fix. I wanted to include this because history of terrible things like this has been around since the beginning and still today. "Yoongi" is not defined by what happened to him and though life can be so utterly cruel, one can still hope to find happiness and fulfillment in this short life we have.

If anyone experiences a situation where life feels pointless or that bad things are only thrown at you, please see that there is still so much good in the littlest things. So much good you would miss if you don't allow a future. Death comes eventually. If the future doesn't look hopeful, at least have curiosity of it. Be curious if one day you might be successful, if you might change someone's life in the smallest way, if you might meet someone worth living for that is a friend or something more--all the adventures you might go on even if they aren't far, even just at home.

And like my Hoseok was with my Yoongi, please be patient and understanding to others. They might be going through so much more, have so many scars that are displayed quite as literally as on the skin. Put yourself in other's shoes sometimes. Maybe their shoes are newer than yours. Or maybe old and worn. And sometimes shoes fall apart and need some glue or stitching--some help. Or a new pair--a fresh start.

And that's okay.

If anyone needs anything, someone simply to talk to, I am here for listening and advice. If not me, don't feel bad about reaching out to a friend, family member, or another stranger. Some won't judge as much as you think.

Thanks again for reading. I am going to keep writing, so if you ever want more from me, follow me here or I have a Twitter under my same name CckookcC, which I write drabbles and exclusive thread fics sometimes (Instagram too).

If not, it was a pleasure to have you all read and I hope life treats you well.
