Hoseok strode proudly through the fortress grounds, freshly bathed, new robes, sword polished and sharpened at his side.

"Where is the King?"

"The ancestral gardens, I believe," Advisor Chinghae informed him.

Hoseok scoffed lightly to himself. As if he knew where that was...

He'd seen it briefly many many months ago, with Amy, when the flowers were still in bloom for summer. But the entire structure of the gardens was quite different than now. He finds it odd that this construction of the fortress is his present, while the new construction he'd seen with Amy is a part of his past.

Hoseok nervous energy buzzed through him as he rushed on, taking the direction that led towards the rear of the fortress.

"Inform the King of our plans tonight," General Hong had told him.

Hoseok spotted a tree, the same one that still stands until the time Hoseok left and a figure just next to it.

Complimenting the snow was a dark blue overcoat engulfing his red robes, surrounded by shrines and statues, decaying plant life, and a small building for homage purposes. Hoseok stopped at the figure surrounded by maids, advisors, and guards.

"Your highness?"

The king remained still with no response. Hoseok stepped closer, ignoring the wariness of the guards at his presence.

"Your majesty," Hoseok tried again. "I- the attacks have gotten unbearable. We are planning a new method of approach tonight and I-"

"I know. Sit." The King told him softly, remaining faced away.

Hoseok sighed to himself and bent down, cringing as the snow touched his knees, the cold radiating through his robes.

A moment of silence passed before the king sighed and glanced towards the Heavens. "Leave. All of you leave the two of us be."

The crowd of court staff hesitantly left one by one, exiting under the archway, though a few guards remained close enough to glance at them from a distance.
