Eric couldn't understand this love he had for Tanya.  His mother  was sure that it was Obeah. He just did not believe in that shit and neither did Tanya, so he was not sure who would have cast that Obeah spell on him. It couldn't be Tanya's parents. They hated him and did everything in their power to keep Tanya away form him.  He was confused. She cheated on him, yet he couldn't stand for her to be away from him. He just could not be without her. He didn't know what the future held for them, but he knew life would never be the same. He did not think that they could ever get back what they had before...Luke.  And for that he hated Luke with a passion

As they drove home, Tanya kept looking over at him, wanting to say something but he looked everywhere but at her. He was still so mad at her.

They were almost  home  after driving for an hour in silence.  He looked over at Tanya  and spoke very calmly. He asked her if she understood what she had done. He told her she had destroyed something very sacred and special that they had built together. She burst into tears. She told him that she was so sorry and asked him to forgive her. He told her that tears won't fix what she did so she should stop the crying. He explained to her that even if he forgave her their life together could never be as it was.

"It is not only about forgiveness Tanya it is also about forgetting; how can I forget that you betrayed me?" He said getting all choked up.

"How can I trust you again?  Please tell me because I really want to forget this shit ever happen. How can I Tanya?" He asked.

Tanya didn't know the answer to his questions. He reminded her about the pack they made before they got married. The pact was just promises made by two kids with little understanding of the world but he was going to hold her to it. The pact did promise fidelity which Tanya broke, but it was not a condition for ending the marriage. The one stipulation for ending the marriage was a child outside the marriage and again it would be up to the injured party to walk away.

Eric told her that the pack still stand. He told her not to worry about his parents because they could not make him walk away from her. They would stay together. He asked her if she agreed. Tanya  didn't know what else to say but yes.

She was glad that they would still be together.  Life wouldn't be easy with Eric knowing what he knew, but if they were together then with time they could work to fix their marriage, Tanya thought.  But then Eric delivered the bombshell. He told her to keep the master bedroom and he would stay in the living room until he fix up one of the other bedrooms.

Tanya looked at him with confusion. Didn't he just say that we were staying together? So what was this about separate sleeping spaces?

"I don't understand," she said.

Eric looked at her with the coldest eyes. "What don't you understand Tanya? Do you understand that you cheated on me? That you destroyed something sacred that we built? That you lied to me? I am sure you don't expect life will be the way it was...not  after what you did," he said.

"But you just said that we will be together."

"We will not end the marriage. That is what I meant.  You are still my wife and I will continue to take care of you, provide for all you need. You will not be in need of anything. But I will not sleep with you again, I will not touch you.  That is where I draw the line Tanya," he said.

Is he serious? How could he expect us to live like that? She thought. The tears rolled down her face. How could she live in the same house with him and not feel his touch? That would be sheer torture.

Tanya tried to tell him that she had never slept with any man but him, but he started to get mad all over again. He told her to shut up about that subject, because not only had he heard enough he had seen more than enough with his own eyes. He told her that he knew everything that she did in New York and that was not something he would forget anytime soon.
