Eric walked through the door exhausted, tired, hungry....and angry from the fight he had with his mother....over Tanya again. Tanya was sprawled out on the couch...his bed watching TV. "Hey," Tanya said. Eric didn't answer. Eric was not in the mood for another fight but he knew that he had to address what happened. He needed to hear Tanya's side and then Lloyd's version as well.
Eric walked into the kitchen with Tanya following behind him. This was a ritual of hers every night....to just follow him around. She was like a damn kid, always happy to see him walk through the door. Eric dropped the bag with the food his mother gave him on the table. "What happened today with you and my mother; she said that you spit on her," Eric said very calmly.
It was as if the words "my mother" triggered something in her. Tanya got very defensive. "You tell your mother to stay away from me; she is lucky that was all I did after what she did to me today; she was screaming at the top of her voice in the store that you were not the father of my baby," Tanya told him.
Eric gritted his teeth. How the fuck could his mother say some shit like that in public? It was bad enough to say such shit to him in private but to say that in public was unforgivable, he thought. The last thing he wanted was for a stigma to be attached to the kid, because regardless of whether the kid was his or not...he would be his. The kid and Tanya was a package. He knew that from the moment he found out that she was pregnant that even if Luke was the father, that kid would be his. But Tanya would never hear his thoughts.
"Well what ever you think she did she didn't make you screw Luke," Eric said.
"It was just a kiss Eric," she told him for the millionth time but she knew it was useless.
"A kiss is just as intimate as screwing if not more, especially for a woman," Eric told her.
"What are you talking about?" Tanya asked.
Eric explained that a woman could easily screw a man she feels nothing for but very rarely will she kiss a man she doesn't have feelings for. Tanya looked at him. She could never deny that she felt something for Luke, but she had no doubt it was Eric she loved and she would always love him.
"Well I have never heard of anyone getting pregnant from just kissing; this baby is yours and you had better get that straight with your witch of a mother because the next time she attack my baby you will be visiting her in a hospital if I don't kill her," Tanya shouted at him. Tanya was furious and he could not blame her. His mother was way out of line saying such shit, he thought.
"Look, my mother was way out of line saying shit like that to you; she fuck with you again, you let me know, seen? I don't want you getting into a physical fight with her," Eric said.
Tanya nodded her head yes.
"And I want you to be careful out there; as you go about your business just be aware of your surroundings," Eric said.
"Why Eric? Am I in danger?" She asked looking paranoid and holding on to her belly. That is the main reason Eric did not tell her about Lloyd. She would be worried sick if she knew that she needed a guard.
"No, you are not in danger but I don't know what other tricks my mother is up to; I don't know why her ass was in that store today; her housekeeper does the food shopping not her," Eric said.
Tanya thought of how the woman had her watched the entire time she was in New York. "You are right; I will be careful," Tanya said.
"Good; oh by the way is it ok with you if Lloyd spend a few days with us?" Eric asked.
"Your brother? Why?" Tanya asked, looking at him suspiciously.
"He has the time and I thought he could help you get the nursery ready. Let him do the painting and all the heavy lifting," Eric said.
