Eric had been dodging Sunday since the awards dinner, but with what his mother and Mila just pulled on him he had to back up and go find out exactly what Sunday knew about his mother and what the woman whom he loved and worshipped all his life did to him as a child. He thought that finding out what happened to him as a kid might be the key to finding out what happened to him as an adult and anywhere in between.
He just showed up at Sunday's office and told her receptionist to tell Dr. Willbrooks that he was waiting. Sunday could not believe that she heard the woman correctly. "You said my nephew Eric? You sure?" Sunday asked. The woman nodded. Sunday told her to cancel her afternoon appointments and to show Eric in. Sunday could not believe her good fortune.
Eric walked in and took a seat. "So you have been blowing up the phone system wanting to talk to me, well here I am," Eric said.
"Eric?" Sunday said still thinking that he could possibly have DID.
Eric looked at Sunday with knitted brows. "Yes it's me; who do you think I was?" he asked.
Sunday looked at him through slits in her eyes as she pondered what Eric was up to. She wondered if Tanya had mentioned to him what they discussed that day. He seemed in a pretty good mood so that could not be it, Sunday thought. She realized that she had to be careful in everything she did and say. He might not be crazy but he had a bad temper the likes she had never seen in anyone else. And this was nothing new. He had that bad temper since he was a young boy.
"Well last time we talked you got mad and took off; I thought we might want to continue where we left off," Sunday said.
"Lets not continue where we left off, how about we start over a fresh," Eric said.
"That is even better; so how is work? My brother working you hard?" She asked.
"Yea but I dont mind; work keeps me sane right now," Eric said.
"Tanya said that you stopped by the house to see her. Thanks for doing that; she doesn't get much visitors," Eric said.
"It was my pleasure; that baby will be here anytime now," Sunday said.
Eric nodded. He had mixed feelings about that. Sunday looked up at him. He looked tired. He looked off into space at times as if he had a lot going on in his mind. She was well aware of some of the struggles he was going through. She wanted to ask about him and Tanya but she bit her tongue when she remembered what happened last time. Instead she stood up and asked him for a hug. He walked over and they embraced. Sunday thought that they were off to a good start.
"So what do you want to know about your childhood?" Sunday asked.
"Whatever you can tell me; Tanya said that I forgot about her but I dont see how I could; she was everything to me; I hated that we had to move away; I missed her so fucking much but then.....I dont know what happened, " He said.
"Yes I remember that; she was all you talked about for a long time. You wanted to move back to your old neighborhood so you would be there for her; you worried about who would take care of her, watch out for her if you were not there; but you were just a boy Eric. I had to remind you that she had parents and siblings who would take care of her," Sunday said. "Your parents thought that you were out of control Eric. You kept running away from home," Sunday said.
"I did not run away; I just wanted to go see Tanya...make sure that she was ok. I was worried sick about her. There were these boys who would tease her, but once I told them to fuck off, no one bothered her again; I was afraid that they would start again once they found out that I was gone," Eric said.
