Chapter. 7. The Big Reveal

Life was hell and it only got worst with each passing day. How things had changed; what was their suite at one time  was now all hers.   Eric moved his stuff  from the master suite into one of the guest bedrooms.  The house was now divided in two, Tanya's half and Eric's half and the kitchen they shared.  He tried to stay away from the kitchen when she was in there.  If anyone had told  him a year ago that him and Tanya would be living like this, he would have said never happening, but here they were living like strangers.

The  bathroom down the hall was his, but the water pressure in that bathroom was so low that evening, that he decided to use Tanya's on suite shower instead. For some unknown reason, her bathroom had better water pressure. He was in a hurry to shower and get out before Tanya came in. Their face to face encounter had become very awkward especially so since that sexual encounter with her a week ago.

Eric finished his shower and was on his way out of the bathroom when something caught his attention.  It was a large bottle of prenatal vitamins...PRENATAL spelt out in bold capital letters. Eric stopped in his tracks, then he walked over to examine the bottle more closely.  He swallowed hard.   It was the same kind of vitamins Tanya took  when she was pregnant.  No fucking way, she cannot be pregnant, he thought.

He thought maybe it was left over from her previous pregnancy but taking a closer look he saw clearly that the prescribed date on the bottle was more recent....like a week ago. What the fuck? He began to think backwards as he tried to remember the last time they had sex......not including a week ago when he stupidly decided to satisfy his urges.

They did not have sex after Tanya had the miscarriage; she was depressed and that was the reason for her trip to New York. If she was pregnant , he could think of only one reason why she would hide that from him. He began to get angry. But if he was not the father why was she still with him. She could not be that stupid. His head was just spinning from thinking. Well there was only one way to find out what the fuck was going on, he thought.

Eric dashed from the room. He stopped in the living room. He felt numb.   He could hear Tanya moving about in the kitchen.  Eric paced the living room floor for a few minutes.  Suddenly He felt very nervous.  He was somehow afraid to confront her.  He was afraid that he would go back on his promise and not only hurt her but kill her if she was carrying that bastard baby.

Eric called Tanya into the living room. Tanya came into the living room drying her hands with the end of an apron tied around her waist.  He looked at her but he couldn't tell if she was pregnant.

"What's up?" Tanya asked.  Eric bit his bottom lip, turned his back to her and walked away from her.  He wanted to keep some  distance so he didn't strangle her before he got the full scoop of what was going on.  Tanya was not fooled.  He was obviously mad about something and was trying to hide it.  Tanya froze. What the hell did I do now?  Did he have more photographs of  me and  Luke?

Eric did not beat about the bush. "Tanya are you pregnant?" he asked calmly....too calm for her comfort.

Tanya didn't answer. How did he find that out? She didn't know what to say to him.  She was sure he was going to kill her this time.  She had been dreading this moment for over a month.  Eric turned around and faced her with tears in his eyes.  He walked over,  and pulled her to him. He  untied the apron  and pulled up her blouse and his worst fear was realized.  She was hiding a young belly.  Tanya always had a flat stomach and that stomach was not flat, he thought.  He could not control the anger that was bubbling up inside. "Tell me this Bombo cloth I am looking at is not real; tell me you had a big lunch; tell me any fucking thing, just don't tell me that you are pregnant," he shouted. Tanya was shocked speechless. This was not how she wanted him to find out.
