Making her way into the restaurant, Jennifer placed her coat behind her on the chair. Taking a deep breath, she fixed her hair and threw it over her shoulder before a waiter came to her table.
"What can I get ya?"
"Vodka." She said as she saw Colin enter the establishment with a petite young woman also sporting a ring on her wedding finger. The man came back within the time Colin took her jacket and placed it on his arm. Taking the small shot glass, Jennifer chugged it within a moment and turned her head slightly to the side before shutting her eyes tight. "Another one." She demanded as she forcefully handed it to him. "Now." she said as the waiter did not move. "And some fries."
"Jennifer!" a familiar voice said aloud as a warm arm wrapped around her shoulders. "Sorry I'm late, been a hectic day." Lana said as she took a seat across from her. As the waiter brought Jennifer's shot, she took it identical to the last one, looking back and seeing Colin absent from his previous position.
"It seems you did too..." She said raising an eyebrow. "Everything alright?"
"It's just work..." She said motioning toward the bartender to give her more drinks. Lana ordered a fruity alcoholic drink as Jennifer saw Colin at the bar. Angled so his left arm was placed to support himself, he noticed her but she pretended as if she did not see him, laughing at Lana who became confused.
"Maybe you shouldn't drink anymore..." She said pulling her drink from her.
"I'm fine." She said quickly.
"So do you know anything about him?'
"Who?" she asked as she took a fry into her two fingers and then into her mouth.
"Hook...Colin...the Irish actor..."
"Oh...he's married. That's all I know..."
"How's Sebastian?"
"He has a meeting tonight..."
"Another one? There's been like one every other night..."
Jennifer shrugged before she made her way to the bathroom. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she gave herself a pep-talk.
"He's married girl, and you're in a relationship...Think about the good things Sebastian has done for you...even though he doesn't do anything now...Ugh! I just need to forget about him. He should not have this much control over me! I just met the guy...that damn accent..." She said as she took a deep breath and took her lipstick from her pocket and placed a coat over her mouth.
Making her way from the bathroom, she hurried back to her table but brushed up against someone. A familiar scent and voice made her stomach get restless as well as her eyes and lips.
"My bad." He said as he looked down to her. "Jennifer..." He said in surprise.
Moving a safe distance from him, she moved to the lighted part of the restaurant and smiled. "Sorry, girls night." Turning and rolling her eyes at herself, she realized she was cold and decided to go apologize once she saw him again.
Ten minutes passed. Twenty minutes, then half and hour, then two. Waiting anxiously to see him once more, she went to the bar and asked.
"He sent his wife home in a cab I believe...just now..." He said pointing at the door.
Not wanting to seem desperate or eager, she made her way back to her seat and took another french fry drenched in ketchup. Looking anxiously toward the door, she became restless and made her way outside, finding him on his phone-looking at the time.
"I'm sorry about before." she said quickly, not giving him a chance to say anything.
"It's alright. I kind of bombarded you..." He said not being able to rid the smile upon his face.
"What is it?" She asked as she noticed his smile did not cease for a moment.
"It's just..." Slowly walking toward her, he placed his thumb on her bottom lip and removed ketchup from her lip and placed it between his lips.
Almost in shock at the action, she found her eyes unable to leave his lips. Grinning at her, he nodded to a taxi and turned to get in.
"I'll see you tomorrow at work." He said politely.
Watching the cab drive away, she found herself quivering. Turning back in the bar, she went back in and made polite conversation-leaving soon after. On the car ride home, she took a deep breath and noticed her cheeks were completely flushed and her stomach would not cease with nerves or excitement. But then again, once more, the thought of his promise to another made her ill...
