Chapter Sixty Two- The Hospital Visit

        Jennifer made her way into the hospital to find Colin sitting up in his bed. But as she went to make her way into the room, Helen shot her a vile look. Ignoring that, she moved past her and sat beside Colin. Out of anger, Helen left-possibly to alert the authorities.

        "Colin, there's something I need to tell you..." She said, with a true heavy heart.

        He nodded as he waited for her to speak.

        "Helen hired Henry..who I found out is really Thomas-" She went on and on until she filled him in. But by this time, Helen had alerted the authorities. Two men in black uniforms and unique logos on the left breast sides grabbed her viciously. Colin stood harshly.

        "Release her! She is my friend...I invited her here..." He said shooting a look to Helen who instantly hid her face from him-in a shy manner.

        Again, they were left alone. He apologized to her once more for Helen's behavior before he kissed her hand. Seeing her scratched knuckles from trying to escape, he almost began crying.

        "What is it?" She asked as she placed her hand on his cheek.

        "I said I would protect you and look at you...broken ankle...sprained God knows what else..."

        "You're only human Colin. And plus...I got to kick a little ass which felt pretty good..."

        "Did they get him then?"

        "No...But I have something..." She took something from her pocket. It was a phone. His phone. It was slightly damaged but still worked. "If I give this to the police it is not only evidence to back up my story, but possible clues to lead them to his current location..."

        "I'm sorry. I had no idea she was involved...To be honest...I would not have believed you unless you played the tape...It does make sense though...but the baby...that doesn't..."

        "About that..." She continued. "Before I came to see you, I was able to sneak a peek at the records possibly...she is two weeks pregnant Colin. Two weeks, that story she gave you is completely made up...you just have to find out who the father is...and I'm terrified it's Thomas..."

        "You and me both...But what do we do from here? We can't exactly go after him..."

        "The police..."

        "And I can't sit back and wait for an arrest to be made. That could take months..."

        "What do you propose?"

        "You and I get away for a little bit...take a break from all this and enjoy the sun in Miami or the Ice in Russia, either way...just us-away from all this madness..."

        "I can't go anywhere..."

        He gave her a shocked look. "Are you-?"

        "No." She said quickly, laughing it off. "Not pregnant. Just not a fan of flying overseas or over large bodies of water...Plus...We need to find stuff out before we leave...I can't leave knowing he's still out there..." She paused once more as she saw his expression. "What are you going to do about Helen?"

        "I'm getting a divorce...And a false pregnancy is exactly how to get one. I just have to prove it somehow....Legally..."

        "While you figure that you, I'm going to try to lure out Thomas."

        "I don't think that's a good idea. He's dangerous and now he doesn't care if he hurts you...No...bad idea..."

        She placed a soft kiss on his lips before turning from him for a moment and looking at the clock.

        "He should be out looking for my car in a few minutes. I can lure him somewhere I know best and trap him, get the cops there, and bam! Solved, then we can leave and start our lives..."

        "I don't want you doing this alone..."

        "I have to...Hey, It's going to be fine..."

        "When you make it back, I swear to God I am going to give you the most mind-blowing night of your life..." He said kissing her hard and watched as she left.

        Taking a deep breath, she began her mission. In that moment, she knew what she had to do. And she knew there was a chance she would never see Colin again. As she walked down the hall, she came across Helen who stopped in her path.

        "Where you going so quick? Did he kick you to the curb already? Humph...sad..."

        "You know what? I am done with you berating me as if I am a child. I am a grown woman. One that your husband wants to be with. The one he cares for with all he is...when he was hurt-he wanted me..."

        "You were his whore..."        

        "That may be...but at least I didn't have to fake a pregnancy with another man's child to keep him...He is staying with me all on his own.."

        Helen's mouth hung down as Jennifer walked past her. A slight amount of guilt grew inside of her, but she knew deep inside it felt good to stand up for herself.
