Chapter Fifty Nine- Cat and Mouse

        As he closed his eyes, she rubbed her fingers against the wrench behind her back and went to swing. Due to the absence of her lips, he opened his eyes. Catching her hand at the swing, her complexion turned pale. Taking it from her hand, he threw it on the ground and watched as she tried to run. Going toward the door, she pushed it open by using her body weight and fell to the floor as her foot caught on the corner. Using the boot, she turned quickly and hit it against the door, knocking Thomas to the ground completely. She took this to her advantage and ran through the room in which she quickly found it to be a storage room. Shelves surrounded her with cans and boxes.

        "I know you're in here..." He said as he began kicking boxes out of his way. "I thought we could have had a life together...but you made that impossible...Now if I can't have you..." He threw over a tall shelf, causing to to crash against the wall. "Nobody can!"

        Her grasp was quick as she slid behind one of the shelves. She found a small box of coins and threw them across the room as she saw a window. Climbing up on a pair of boxes, she moved out with great speed. She was almost in the clear when her foot was grabbed with his hands. Clasping tight around her foot, she tried to find something to grasp on to in order to pull herself free. Luckily, a strong root was outside of the window. She pulled it with great force and almost freed her leg but he hit down the window and caused it trap her foot and the boot. Jennifer unlatched the Velcro and freed her foot to make an escape.

        "Help!" She screamed as she broke free. Limping on her broken ankle, she ran toward her car and placed the key in the ignition before turning it and starting it. As the headlights turned on, her heart stopped. Thomas stood before her, gun pointed at the car.

        "Goldie...come on...get out of the car..." He said calmly, slowly walking toward the car.

        "Move. I will push the pedal to the floor and not hesitate to hit you. Now!"

        "Get out of the car!" He said, now yelling. No hope or even humanity in his eyes-just loathing and hate.

        She pushed the pedal to the floor and floored it. He jumped out of the way, shooting at her car, getting her left brake light and leaving a few bullets in the car detail job. She sped away to Lana's apartment. With tears in her eyes and shaking fingers, she dialed her.

        "Hello?" Lana asked on the other end of the phone, clearly tired.

        "Can I come in? I'm downstairs..." She said with a shaky voice, trying to hold back tears.

        "Yeah, of course..."

        "Call the police..." She whispered as she hung up the phone.

        Stepping on her tip toes, she ran quickly up to the apartment and fell into Lana's arms.

        "What happened?"

        As she explained everything, she was brought tea. Sitting on the couch, she sipped it before tears poured down her face.

        "So what are you going to do about Colin?"

        As the words spoke, her phone went off.

        "I don't know the number..." She said holding up the phone.

        "Is it Thomas? Or Henry?"

        She gulped as she accepted the call.

        "Is this Jennifer?" a sweet voice asked on the other end.

        "Yes. Who's this?"

        "Helen."

        Now her heart stopped twice.

        "Oh....Helen? What can I do for you?"

        "Did Colin have scenes the past few days?"

        "Not that I know of..."

        "I'm going to be honest. I know you were with him. In a sexual way. Is he with you?"

        "No. I haven't seen him in two days. And I assure you, we aren't together like that..."

        "I know you were...I don't have time to argue that...I just want to know if you've seen him."

        "Not in the last two days."

        "Do you know where he could be?"

        "No."

        "You were no help-as expected. If I find out he was with you, I swear to God I will ruin you..." The line went dead.

        She shut her eyes tight. Tears escaped her eyes when she opened them.

        "It's going to be okay, I'm sure he's alright. He's strong...it's going to be okay Jen...I promise..."
