Chapter Fifty Three- Scenes

        Making her way out to her car, Jennifer was anxious to go back home. She was desperate to get a good night's sleep and hadn't been able to in the past week due to Henry's threats and Colin's ongoing sex-capades. As she pulled up to her apartment, she took a breath of ease. It appeared she had her life back. No threats, no jealous ex, nothing-just the quiet streets of Canada.

        Entering her apartment, she found Colin leaning on her counter. With an angry expression, he said no words and just walked toward her.

        "How did you get in?"

        "You left it unlocked..."

        "Oh...I want you to go..."

        "Why? So you can go be with Henry?"

        "What?"

        "I saw you with him. Are you stupid?"

        "Wow...what exactly did you come here for? To get mad at me? Make me mad? Insult me? Well congratulations, you've accomplished all three, now you can go..."

        "He's dangerous..."

        "You think I don't know that...How do you even know?"

        "I saw your car was gone and followed you to make sure you were safe. Even though you hate me, I still want to protect you. I always will."

        "I want you to go Colin. Our relationship from here on out will be strictly professional as it should have been before."

        "You are flirting with danger...it will hurt you-he will hurt you. Be mad, angry, or even vengeful toward me for whatever reason...but just don't trust him..."

        "Right now, I trust him more than I trust you..."

        It was as if those words were daggers directly to his heart. He froze for a moment before slamming the door. Jennifer too felt the rehash of the words and fell to the ground in tears. Her sob session was cut short with knocking at her door. Expecting it to be Colin, she issued her fighting words.

        "I said I didn't want to see you-" Jennifer went to say before she noticed it was Henry. His expression now confused and very much angry when he realized, he waited for a response.

        "Sorry...I thought you were-"

        "Colin?"

        She nodded as she hung her head as if being with him were something to be shameful of.

        "Come with me..." He demanded, extending his hand.

        "Where to?" She asked, wearing a fake smile.

        "My favorite place..." He paused at her hesitation. "Do you trust me?"

        She wanted to shut the door in his face but she knew it would then make him angry. Against all her better judgment, she accepted his hand and was taken to his "favorite place".
