Chapter Twenty Two- Black and Blue

        Pushing him onto the ground, Colin was straddling Sebastian and punching him until blood was visible. Even then, he did not cease. By this time, Jennifer's vision returned to normal and she pulled Colin from him. Sebastian laid unconscious on the ground. Wiping her lip, Jennifer looked toward Colin who embraced her in his arms. Hugging her tight, he kissed her forehead and they looked at the injured actor who lie still on the ground.

        "Is he alright?" She asked with levels of fear in her voice.

        "Aye. Just will bare some scars to remember to treat women better..."

        "He's never done anything like that before, I swear...I know his background was undisciplined. He was never taught it was wrong..."

        "It still is not right..." He said brushing her hair from her eye. "Come with me, let me clean you up..." He said as he pulled her and toward the kitchen and sat her on the bar stool. Placing a cloth under the faucet, he turned the handle and let the cloth become drenched. In this moment, Jennifer did not want to admit how guilty or terrible she felt about their last conversation.

        "I am so sorry about my comment before Colin, it was unfair of me-"

        "You were right...everything you said was right. But there is something you need to understand. I may come off possessive, it is only because I am determined. Anything I have ever had that I thought was mine has always been taken or left. I am afraid that could be you too..." He gently dabbed the blood from her face. "Your words struck my heart as if they were individual daggers. But it made me realize I have been unfair to you...I mean, we both desire one another...but, I made you lust for a man whom was promised to another..."

        "I never should have allowed this..."

        "Don't blame yourself. I am the one who was in the wrong. I was the one in a prior commitment...'

        "I was too..." She said, motioning toward Sebastian. "Colin, I do desire you...but I think we both know that this needs to end. We are toxic for one another and frankly, this is probably just lust...Unsatisfied sexual tension..."

        "Did you ever wonder if it was more?"

        "Like what?"

        "If we were destined? I mean instead of our significant others, if we were supposed to be together? Has it ever crossed your mind?"

        "Please stop. You keep pulling me back in with these romanticized words. Please Colin..." As she placed her hand upon his chest, it stopped solid. She desired to know what his touch felt like upon her damp skin. What his moan sounded like in her ear, this occupied her mind as he explained how he could not be just friends with her.

        "I never want to come off as possessive. I was wrong to claim you to be mine before-I am sorry..." He said, now placing peroxide upon her wounds. "I was growing anxious of your answer and now it seems obvious...you need time for yourself..."

        Hearing the words, sounded like a goodbye to her. She knew what he meant about daggers to the heart. Closing her eyes, she did not let him finish his words and placed her lips upon his cheek.

        "You should go."

        "I'm not leaving you alone with him..."

        "I'll be-"

        "I'm not leaving you alone...I promise nothing will happen that you don't want to..." As he said this, his tone hinted as if he was planning something. "You have my word Jennifer, I will not touch you unless you ask. I do not want you to feel pressured...in any way..."
