Chapter Twenty Nine- The Agreement

        Two weeks had passed since Colin and Jennifer had seen one another. Due to a nasty storm, the entire production was placed on hold and they were forced to be apart. For looks, Colin stayed with his wife and Jennifer stayed in her apartment. When Jennifer would try to call Colin he would be out and vise versa-same with text messages. Eventually when the storm subsided and everything was fixed, they decided to go to a public place to avoid the possibility of losing themselves as they often did.

        "I am sorry about storming out. I shouldn't have. It wasn't your fault...you were playing a part-as was I."

        "Are you really upset with me because I won't..." She lowered her voice to not be overheard. "Sleep with you?"

        "No." He said quick with a compassionate look. Placing his hand on top of hers, she pulled back.

        "This time apart has made me realize this won't go anywhere..."

        He paused and retracted completely. Demeanour completely changing.

        "So you want to end this...end us?"

        She nodded slowly and he began shaking his head.

        "What can I do to make you stay?"

        Surprised by his efforts, she found herself silent.

        "I...You can't do anything...This is just-"

        "Don't say lust." He said in a calm tone, not making eye contact with her. "You and I both know there is much more to this..."

        "There can't be." She said growing louder. "That time apart was hell for me. But it made me realize that's how my life would be. You having your life on the side in front of the cameras, me being your dirty little secret. I don't want that Colin. I want to one day be married and one day have a family of my own...I am not saying with you, but I want it as a possibility."

        "Can we talk about this somewhere more private? Please..." He urged, now making eye contact with her.

        She reluctantly nodded before he pulled her from her seat and toward the car. Speeding through the city streets and to her apartment.

        With tears in his eyes, he pulled her into the apartment.

        "I'm weak." He said, causing her to stop dead in her movement and focus complete attention to him.

        "What?"

        "I'm weak without you. I'm weak near you. I'm weak thinking about you, being away from you, close to you. You are my end Jennifer...I need you so I can exist and I know this isn't fair to put on you. I know that asking you to be my secret is not fair to you. But can't it be enough to be together? Just for now? No pressure, no guilt...just us...?"

        "I want normal Colin."

        "What is normal? We are actors, in the spotlight-we will never have normal. Cameras will follow us everywhere. It is a wonder how we haven't been exploited by now..."

        "I-"

        He interrupted her. "I will do anything it takes to be with you. What do you want me to do?"

        "I want you to stop teasing me. Stop touching me...there...stop kissing my neck and saying things sexual in my ear. If you want this to be real and if you want me...we are going to do this right..."

        He gave her a quick smile.

        "Alright." He said simple.

        "I also want a promise-a guarantee of some kind that this isn't just an affair. A whimsical fluke..."

        "Jennifer...since the minute I saw you, I knew you would be the death of me. You made me hypnotized by everything you are. That smile, those lips, those eyes, the way you move, even the way you breathe-it is torture to me that I am unable to kiss you or be near you or hold your hand even."

        "But...she's always in the back of my mind. We can never have what you do with her. I don't want to be the other woman Colin..."

        "You won't always be. Just until she calms down with her threats..."

        "Threats?"

        "Of her "connections" coming after me if I ever hurt her..." He saw the passing seconds she was losing hope. "It will happen...we will be together like that one day I promise...I just can not tell you when."

        Desperate for any relationship with him, she gave him a sweet kiss on the lips. The agreement was set.

        Placing his arm around across her shoulders, he held her close. But the click of a camera was unheard in the distance.
