Chapter Sixty Seven- Two Months Later

"I am so glad the season's done. Now we can go on the trip..." She said throwing her head back against his chest as they lied on the couch with one another. With their fingers intertwined, they looked at the television and each other, changing glances every now and again.

"Where do you want to go love?" He asked, looking at her, as she turned to him.

"Anywhere?"

"Yeah..."

"I was thinking somewhere somewhat busy...nice, historic even?"

"Where? I give up..."

"Scotland?"

"Scotland?" He asked almost choking on his smile.

"Yes, I love the history and the places are so picturesque...can we?" She asked biting her bottom lip.

He looked to her and placed his hand upon her cheek. Caressing her soft skin, he looked into her eyes.

"Of course my love. I will admit, I may not be welcome...The Irish don't much get along with the Scots...but for you, I'd take a bullet."

She paused for a moment and rose from her lying position.

"What is it?" he asked, as he knew something was clearly bothering her.

"What ever happened to him? Thomas?"

He then followed her posture, sitting beside her instead of underneath her. He took a deep breath and held her hands in his.

"I haven't heard anything in weeks...no letters, no calls, nothing..."

"Isn't that good thing?"

"No, I don't know his thoughts then. I don't know if he's planning something or not...Still obsessed...or not..."

"Make me a deal, if we leave we forget all this. Then come back and enjoy our lives again?"

She looked at him and saw the hope in his eyes. Nodding, she kissed him sweetly.

"What do you know about him?"

"He didn't get a trial."

She froze. "He's free?" She asked, her voice trembling. He placed his hands on her knees.

"No. He is in a psychiatric hospital on the other side of the world. He can't get to you unless you let him. Through the messages and calls..."

"Will he come after me again?"

Colin shook his head. "Not if I can help it. He is under maximum security. The only way he could ever get out is in a body bag...."

"Why don't I find that comforting?"

"Because my love, you're a good person with an amazing heart. Even as others hurt you, you want to still see the good. I know you see him as a broken toy. Somebody worth redemption. That's why you still allow him in your life. But please, please love, let's go on this trip and start over. A fresh slate, a new beginning...please..."

Seeing the desperation in his eyes to start anew, she took his hand and kissed him once more.

"Then let's get packing..." She said racing up to the bedroom. Taking the pieces of luggage from the bottom of the closet, she threw them on the bed. But was turned by his hands. He picked her up and threw her onto the couch.

Slowly, he kissed her, leaving her breathless before him.

"I love you Jennifer."

"I love you, Colin."

Looking in each other's eyes they laid embraced in one another.
