Chapter Thirty- Rumors

        Going to set, Lana pulled Jennifer aside in desperation. Holding her phone tightly in her hand, she pulled her away from view.

        "Is it true?" She asked as she showed her an online article about Jennifer and Colin having a secret affair. A giant picture of them took up the entire screen of them together outside her apartment, in his car, and several photographs of them kissing-only cheek, but a physical connection nonetheless.

        Her heart stopped. Everything in her body ceased. Frozen with fear that everything she had just let herself accept was taken from her, she did what she did best-acted.

        "Of course not!"

        Lowering her voice, Lana pulled her closer. "I have noticed you more...energetic than usual. Also that Sebastian hasn't been around in weeks. I don't need to know what happened...I just...it can be dangerous."

        "There's nothing to worry about." She said, losing faith in even her own words.

        "How come I have a feeling, that isn't the truth?"

        Jennifer shrugged before her until she saw Colin. Not looking toward him, he began walking toward her. No expression.

        "Can I borrow Jennifer for a moment?" He asked, his tone stern but this made her uncertain on his attitude.

        She followed him to his dressing room where he stayed on the opposite side from her.

        "You need to go."

        "You brought me in here..."

        "I mean leave Canada...it's too dangerous for you here...right now."

        "What are you talking about? Have you lost it?"

        "The article...my wife is going ballistic. Due to our arrangement, she understands that her and I will never be happy together, but for looks we cannot let stuff like this happen."

        "Like I wanted this to? My reputation is also on the line. Everything about this "arrangement" is twisted! I care about you, you know that...but this just isn't worth it..."

        "I don't want this to end Jennifer...I still want to be with you...but I think you should go before something happens..."

        "Leaving makes me look guilty...I am not going anywhere and if you want this to stay something...try standing up for yourself. Don't allow her to talk to you in such ways that are controlling...You are a strong person Colin, but this is becoming so difficult."

        He looked to the ground and without warning walked toward her and pulled her to him.

        "I'm not going to let you go...I can't. If you decide not to do this I do not blame you...but tell me right now. Look into my eyes and tell me you don't want this..."

        She opened her mouth to say the words but nothing came out. Shutting her eyes and looking toward the ground, she found that she was disappointed in herself.

        "I can't..." She said pulling away, distancing herself from him. "To be honest, I don't want to. But this can hurt people and that's the last thing I want.'

        "As do I....But I can't keep myself away from you. Everything about you intoxicates me completely. You make me want everything and nothing at the same time. You make my mind contradicted-but in my heart- I know what I want. She is standing before me. Hair perfect, makeup unnecessary, and smile beautiful. Intense and slightly scarred soul, tense emotions as well as painful hidden desire. I know you. I can not be away from you." He said, pulling her closer to him as their lips touched.

        In that moment, it was as if any moments prior that caused havoc did not matter. In each other's embrace, they basked in the feeling. The peace they both had, the happiness they both shared at that moment, and the desire they found in each other.

        But that moment ended quickly. A banging caused both of them to jump. Cupping his hand over her mouth as she went to speak, he spoke instead.

        "Yes?" He said, out of breath and grinning at Jennifer who was looking up at him with a bashful expression.

        "You are wanted on set. You have a scene with Jennifer."

        Anxious, they both went to exit but paused. She turned toward him. "Did you check the camera card before you threw it away?"

        Letting out a sigh he turned and took a deep breath. Slightly and slowly, he shook his head.

        "I got his license plate before..."

        In surprise, he turned toward her. "You did?"

        "I had a feeling this wouldn't be over...I have an idea if you're up for it..."

        "Sure....What do you have in mind?'

        "Meet me at the dinner around from my apartment...we are going on a little stake out...."

        He couldn't help but give her a smile as they separated. Making their way onto set, they filmed the scenes they had before making their ways home.
