Chapter Fifty- Useless Promises

        Going back to work the next day, Jennifer was surprised to see Colin's wife on set. She wore a brilliant smile, as if she were auditioning for a teeth whitening commercial. Laughing at her own thought, Colin made his way toward Jennifer.

        "Jen, this is my wife, Helen..." He said with his arm wrapped around her back, as if showing her off. It hurt her heart as she realized how she could not be like that with him. Faking a smile, she was polite and shook her hand.

        "I see you and my husband have gotten fairly close..." She said looking at her as if trying to analyze her. "You have been doing many scenes with him...many romantic ones.."

        "Oh. Yeah. He is a pleasure to work with."

        As she turned, Jennifer noticed how Colin did not look back or even make any contact with her. This could have been due to Helen, but she was still disappointed. Making her way to her dressing room, she went to the mirror and fixed her makeup before her phone buzzed in her pocket.

        "I'm getting really sick of that feeling..." She said as she took it from her pocket.

        Looks like Mr. Perfect, isn't so perfect. Bringing along wifey....Forgive me.

        Growing frustrated with receiving no answers, she went to call Colin but was put to voicemail. Leaving the room, she saw the cast and crew all in a circle around Colin and Helen. Both of them were wearing smiles and she had her gaze stuck to Jennifer. As Lana saw Jennifer's expression, she made her way toward her.

        "Did you hear?"

        "What?"

        "We hope it's going to be a girl...." Helen said as she looked harshly to Jennifer.

        It was as if she had been punched in the stomach-and the heart. She avoided eye contact with Colin and tore her vision away from them.

        "She's pregnant..." Lana cleared. Seeing Jennifer's expressionless face, she placed her arm upon her shoulder before she shook her off.

        "I have to go get some wat-air..." She said as she walked in the building. Lana followed her.

        "What's going on? You are making it seem like you were...Oh gosh..."

        She watched as Jennifer slid against the wall until she hit the ground. Tears pouring down her cheeks.

        "You were with him, weren't you?" She asked sitting beside her as Lana placed her hand on Jennifer's. "It's alright...Are you together now?"

        She nodded. "We were..." She said trying to stop crying-only making it worse. "He never promised me anything but his heart...but it seems to me as if he just used me for the physical attraction..."

        "Did he say he loved you?"

        She nodded.

        "Lan, I gave myself to him...completely...how could he do this to me?"

        "He just isn't the one for you...you will find who is. I promise...."

        "You're right. He isn't worth any more of my time, especially not my tears...He wants to mess me over...two can play that game..." She said as she stood proud and marched off the set. Going to the apartment she shared with Colin, she started removing her belongings but heard the front door open.

        "Jennifer?" Her name from his voice made her cringe. But she knew she needed answers...
