Accepting his invitation, she slid her hand into his as he pulled her gently to the dance floor. Surrounded by their cast and crew in who's identities were withheld by masks, Colin and Jennifer danced to the Christina Perri song The Words. As he pulled her into him, she lightly brushed his chest and they began small conversation over the music. Beginning with her apology.
"I am sorry for losing myself last night..."
"What do you mean?" He asked, giving her a completely confused look. At least that is what she thought but the mask withheld the important details of his facial features to tell his actual expression.
"When we kissed...and things got out of hand...I should not have allowed it to..."
Giggling, he pulled her to him once more and continued with the music.
"I am sorry to disappoint you Jennifer, but we did no such thing."
"I'm not surprised...you were drunk..."
Suddenly he grew cold, his grip grew tight on her hand and he stopped movement and pulled her into him, his lips right against her ear.
"We did nothing last night. I have not touched a bottle in over three years...I intend to keep it that way..." He said before exiting the dance floor, leaving her alone and confused.
Waiting a moment due to her confusion, Jennifer made her way through the crowd and followed Colin who went out into the hall. Removing the mask from his face, he let it fall in his hand and he leaned against the wall. As he looked around, Jennifer hid behind the wall and watched his movements. She watched as his chest moved quickly up and down and as he pulled a phone from his pocket and eventually put it to his ear. By this time, she grew bored of his actions and turned to see Sebastian dancing with another girl. His physique, his movements, the location of his hands...she knew it was him. Exhausted by the amount of emotional stress, she made her way toward her room when she saw Ginnifer and Josh kissing in the hall.
"Sorry." She said quickly as she shielded her eyes from view.
Blushing, Ginnifer smiled before commenting in return.
"It's okay. Are you alright?" She asked, noticing her tone to be out of the ordinary.
"Tired. Been a long day..."
"We're going home tomorrow so that should be nice..."
"Yes. Goodnight..." She said making her way to the elevators.
"Goodnight." They both said in return.
Placing her hand on the button, she then leaned against the door, using one hand to hold onto the rail and the other to remove her high heeled shoes. Taking the straps and holding them in her left hand, she took her hotel key from her pocket and readied it in her hand. As she went to make her way into the room, her phone buzzed. She noticed it was from Colin;
Jen, I usually do not write essays in the form of text messages, but I wanted to thank you for being a good co-star. But I don't think this job will work out for me. It was a pleasure to meet you and I am sorry for any confusion. With all respect and hope for friendship, Colin.
Her heart sank as she placed the phone back in her hand. Rushing into her room, she clicked on his contact and called him."Hello?" A low Irish voice asked at the end.
"Don't leave because of me..."
"I feel I have made things awkward for you and that's the last thing I want...when we leave tomorrow, I'm going home-not back to the studio. I wish you the best."
"Why are you leaving?" She asked, interested to find the other end of the phone to become silent.
"I have other opportunities-"
"The real reason." She interrupted.
No answer on the other end of her phone, she just waited for some form of words to be said.
"You." The voice said, but it echoed. Turning, she realized she had not closed the door and saw as he stood there with sadness in his eyes. In that moment, she had to balance her choice between her morals, and what she desired.
