Chapter Sixty- Up the River

        Jennifer awoke to a text message in the late hours of the night. By this point, she was ready to throw her phone in the ocean. Her heart raced, her pulse jumped, and her stomach was in knots as she read it.

        Love, it's me. I can't call...I got ahold of a phone... I am in the basement of a house in the middle of nowhere. Been here for three days. 

        How do I know this is you?

        The first night we were together, you clawed just on my waist enough to bleed.

        You could have gotten that off of the video or microphone.

        The first time I saw you, you were wearing a brown jacket. One from the set but your own swan neckless. The first time we kissed was the hotel and we almost slept together but you stopped me. Plus, I have not seen you in forty eight hours. I am dying to kiss you.

        She had not choice but to trust him. Quickly, she had Lana bring the phone the the station and track the cell phone. It turns out it was coming from an abandoned house three hours away from their current station. Jennifer waited anxiously as the police officers raided the house. Checking every door, hidden space, they came up with one person. He had been unconscious. 

        "Colin!" She yelled from the car. Leaping with her limp foot, she moved close to him and saw his face. Still marked with the bruises caught from the scuffle earlier, she followed alongside him in the ambulance.

        Going to the closest hospital, she sat beside his bed and squeezed his hand.

        "I'm right here Colin....Please wake up my love."

        As she placed her hand alongside his cheek, a woman cleared her voice.

        "I am giving you one second to remove your hand from my husband. Or I will have you forcefully removed. Do I have to alert them?"

        She rose from beside him.

        "I don't know what you think you know...but nothing happened...Him and I are just close..."

        "No. I don't buy it. I know what I know, leave Jennifer. Now."

        Moving her way out of the room, she turned back and watched as Helen sat beside him.

        Just as her back turned from him, his eyes opened as he saw her leave.
